The Little Kitten: A Child's Story
Author's note: This was made based on my personal childhood and how I saw- as far as I can remember -my world and what others seemed to have thought of me. This only covers as I was 5 up to my preteens, 10 to 12 respectively.
This is also a personal project that I will illustrate after the story has been completed.
Once there was a little kitten named Azmond.
He was 4 feet tall with a big, fluffy tail that he could use to cuddle with when he was sad or scared.
Azmond grew up with a family in a very flat place with lots of wind, trees, and grass. Even though it was very dry an hot where he lived too!
He was friendly.
He was nice.
He never tried being mean.
And he was Autistic.
Azmond didn't know that though. He just knew he couldn't seem to make friends. They thought he was weird.
Other Kitties would throw the pebble into a pool of water.
Azmond would watch the ripples it made.
Other kitties an doggies could catch the ball very well.
Azmond would drop the ball every time, even trying his best to catch it.
When the little Kitten had continued to grow, he still had problems.
The others would look the teacher in the eye.
Azmond would always look at the teacher's book.
Azmond would play by himself in the sand happily.
Others would wonder why he wasn't playing with them.
Azmond would trip over his own two feet playing Red Rover.
The other's would laugh as he left crying.
Other doggies an kitties never liked Azmond it seemed.
But as Azmond grew older and taller, the little kitten learned.
He learned how to catch a ball better and didn't trip as much playing kick-ball with the others.
But he still wasn't chosen very often for kick-ball.
When he came to class sometimes, he'd be wearing “armor” he made with his tee-shirt. He felt brave.
The others thought he was stupid…
During class, he would fall asleep. But when he was asked a question, he would be able to answer quick.
Some of them didn't like him for that, an other's thought he was smart.
Little Azmond grew and grew into a big kitty.
He could run now without tripping an could ride a bicycle without training wheels! But he still was a third wheel with others.
Growing braver and braver the older he got. The little kitty did something he never thought he'd do. He gave a little letter to a crush of his.
Some of the other's thought it was great and were happy for him.
The rest didn't care at all.
Moving, what little pals he had gotten disappeared.
But Azmond being the big kitty, had grown to try more things.
When he went to school, he found a friend on his fifth day… he also found out after all this time. He was Autistic.
Going to the doctor, the old Doctor told him this:
“You have Asperger's Syndrome Azmond. It's part of the group of issues called 'Autisim', and you've done very well.”
Looking at the doctor, Azmond said only a few things. That he was glad that he knew what was going on, an why he may've thought of things differently
An finally: “Well… I can learn, I can adapt, so. I think it doesn't matter too much. Thank you doctor.”
Leaving the doctor an going back home happily. Azmond grew and grew, and as he did. He learned, he adapted and he changed. He was autistic, and still is. But now that he's older. No one could tell just from looking at him… Even if he still tripped once in a while.
