It adds some augmentation to the comic's panels as well as the overall narrative. In addition to the swirls, which I love, we also see a few details. The cup and the table is a really nice touch but also the mysterious figure peek over the edge of the third and fifth panel. We know who the first one is but who could the one with the beak could be? Knowing what we know now about this comic later on...the empty stomach comment Edwina makes has some serious foreshadowing to it!
