First post of the year is: a new character.
Gus is a stuffed bear I got many years ago. His whole name has since been chopped up, as certain family members who had helped named him betrayed my trust. He used to be sitting on my bed, sleeping with me every night, until a few years back. Then, he sat in my closet, alone in the darkness. That closet soon became my stepbrother's closet, as we switched rooms, and he remained in the back of that closet, even after we moved out of that house. Not too long ago, I found him again, in that room, cold, clothes faded from the years... I brought him back with me, to the new home. Where he now sits in my room with me, in my bed once again.
The night I brought him home, however, an old friend of mine decided to pay me a late night visit. A cursed object, a small sewn up and stuffed heart, was placed inside him. The small heart gave the bear life once the heart was inside him, and his back zipped closed. Despite my neglect of him, he was not angry with me for his first moment of life, and hugged me until I woke up to find he was alive.
My first thought? I must be dreaming, he can't be really alive! But he was. And not only was he alive, but he could recall everything. The day he was stuffed, the day he came home with me, and how I slowly abandoned him over the years. He was not angry with me, and now only desires that I keep the promise I made to him from now on: to make sure he is hugged once a day, and never abandoned.
He is a loving, caring bear. He will reveal himself to people if he can sense they are good. He has a loving nature, and always tries to see the good in any situation and every person. While dormant, he is fully aware of his surroundings, though he cannot act. He is dormant whenever bad people are around, or when he feels the need to hide from detection.
He enjoys talking to people, being helpful, and he has a love for watching sports. He's afraid of abandonment, sharp objects, fire, and any kind of cigarette.
He is able to eat, though he does not digest things. He merely swallows them, and they are held in a sort of pouch that serves as his stomach, which can be removed via the zipper on his back.
Dormant, he doesn't have any private bits under his clothes. I have not ventured to undress him while he is awake, so don't even ask. ><
