Character Sheet for Arja Barjar
Slightly shorter than Simoni despite her older age, Arja is built a bit more sturdy and is much stronger than her garuda lover.
She prefers to keep her hair short to make it easier to manage (and possibly because it makes it harder to grab in a fight) and will usually dress casually as long as the situation allows it. Being the daughter of a diplomat means there are times when she does have to dress up though.
Tomboyish, energetic, a bit impulsive at times. As her powers would suggest she can have a 'fiery' temper, but is able to control herself when she really needs to.
She prefers dressing casually, though when at home or at an important function with her father she will often wear a sari, preferring red and gold for the colors.
Arja is very competitive and enjoys physical contests and sports. She has a short temper and a very foul mouth, and often curses up a storm when she's angry. She's very protective of Simoni, willing to throw herself into danger to protect her, and may have a bit of 'Scrappy Doo' syndrome in that she'll often pick fights with things far stronger than herself regardless of the consequences.
- Wrestling and roughhousing with her friends and family
- Cold places
- Rain and wet weather (weakens her magic)
Arja is the daughter of an Indian diplomat (mundane, non-magic using human) and a descendant of Hanuman (shapeshifter). In addition to being a shapeshifter herself she's able to use fire based magic, conjuring flames from her feet and hands as well as being able to breathe fire.
She kidnapped, yes kidnapped, Simoni back when she was still known as Stephanie Fullmoon with the intention of making her into her harem girl (though she would have let her go if she'd insisted, its not any fun otherwise), but found that she and Stephanie/Simoni complemented each other well and that she was more than willing to leave her former life behind.
She has been able to use magic since birth and, infact, is not technically human. Being descended from Hanuman, she's actually a humanoid monkey who can disguise herself as a human.
Rajesh Barjar: Arja's father. Indian Diplomat and former adventurer. He's mundane, but skilled with a sword (though out of practice) and knows of the supernatural.
Iravati Barjar: Arja's mother. One of Hanuman's kin and basically a grown up version of Arja. She is a Child Psychologist and Therapist by trade.
Akul: Her grandfather is the current head of her family who lives in the supernatural world reflection of Hanuman's Temple in India. A giant of an ape-man with multiple faces on his head and great magical strength. He is old and wise, though his sense of humor can be a bit raunchy at times.
The world in this story is a sort of alternate earth with a contemporary fantasy mix to it. Supernatural beings and magic exist, but mainstream humanity doesn't know about them.
I take a lot of cues from games such as The Secret World and the World of Darkness series as well as the writings of authors like Kim Harrison and Simon R. Green.
Arja is thirteen and slightly shorter than Simoni, coming up to about three feet nine inches in height. However, she's much sturdier than Simoni and a lot stronger than her as well, able to hold her own in a fight even without using her supernatural talents.
She wears casual clothing whenever possible, coming off as a bit of a tomboy because of it. She does like wearing a sari whenever she's home in India or at important diplomatic functions with her father, but otherwise prefers casual, comfortable outfits.
She loves sports, especially soccer, and will sometimes be seen wearing a soccer jersey or teeshirt depicting a sports team. She can't play herself due to her constant travels, though she's practically got enough people living with her now to form her own team if she liked... (Note to self: Try this sometime. Lupe as a striker, Nelen would be a really strong goalie...)
She has two main accessories. A gold bracelet with arabic writing on it and a gold ring set with a large ruby, both given to her by a jinn known as Lubanah.
The bracelet allows her to open a portal to Jinnistan, the home of the jinn people in the supernatural world, while the ring allows her to summon Lubanah. These were given to her in exchange for freeing Lubanah from her imprisonment in one of Ali Baba's bottles... a fact that irritates the jinn woman to no end.
