I've started finally working on Gadget's face details, especially her eyes.  I've implemented them as simple spheres deformed with a lattice to fit her non-circular sockets, so that I can point them wherever and they still retain the proper toony look.  Works OK, but I might change it down the road. The eye materials are temporary but look pretty good as is.

Nose and inner ears share a material for now, as makes sense; I may differentiate them later.  Nose mesh still needs some tuning but it's looking passable.

I'm trying to decide how best to handle her eyebrows.  I might do a texture map for them, OR I might use the hair particle simulation, if I can get it looking good along with the overall toonyness of the rest of the model.

And speaking of hair, I'm still undecided on that giant mane she has. Hair sim is a complete pain in the ass when there's That Much Of It, but sculpted hair also has its (notable) drawbacks.  We'll see.

Since I'm still tweaking her mesh, it's useless to create shape keys for her face just yet. (Adding/removing vertices after making shape keys Completely fuxxes the keys.)  Once I feel confident enough that her geometry won't be changing, I'll start building the face animation rigging.

All that aside, just LOOK AT THAT FACE.  How cute is she, seriously?

She looks very nice. Her hair does seem like it'd be difficult to make. A 3D textured mesh would probably be the easiest.
