Character Sheet for Amrita
'Rita (preferred), Reet (tolerated but disliked)
Note: this part is a summary of Saucy's writeup on Fluun physiology.
Fluuns resemble rabbits but possess many plant-like features. On the exterior, Fluuns have specific points on their body decorated with tufts of bioluminescent moss. Within their bodies is a thick sap that conducts nutrients. The jewel on their forehead is darker, hardened sap that is responsible for maintaining proper sap pressure and allowing older sap to be expressed. Both the moss and the jewel are often indicators of the Fluun's medical condition and history via their consistency and discolorations. They have sensitive ears but have poor vision at night. The collar fur grows thicker for winter, and their scut is dense and used for balance.
Typically courteous to friends and customers. Amrita loves opportunities to pass on his knowledge to others that share his passions such that he is comfortable making presentations before groups of people. He sometimes becomes very agitated and defensive in a conversation when discussing certain topics (e.g. disputed techniques for transplanting rare specimens) until he stops for a moment to collect himself and continues more calmly. Unfortunately this has led to him getting involved in a few embarrassingly public verbal altercations usually defused when his ears have had enough.
Caring for flora, teaching, study of trends and patterns, positive informative discussions about topics that do not pop his moss off, being recognized (on the street, or with awards), music, wines and spirits
Carelessness with plant life, politics, being interrupted, self-doubt, duplicity, unorganized work and living spaces (dirt is integral in his work, this is more for things not in their proper place)
Originally named Amrit, he took the female version of name as he is fond of the trailing "a". The name is Sanskrit word for "immortality" and can be linked to ambrosia, food of the gods.
He was raised in a nearby city. As he matured he became enamored with plants such that he "apprenticed" under a local horticulturist. Gaining knowledge and encouragement from this experience and his family, he made it his goal to start a nursery. He located a house for sale with a couple open acres before an old grand forest. With considerable difficulty he got the land zoned for commercial use and had a small greenhouse constructed. After a rough first year, the business came into its own and Amrita is looking forward to expanding both his facilities and offerings to his dear customers.
Wajd, his father. Astrae, his mother. They fell in love in the city and decided to live their lives there. Amrita regularly visits his father's brother Saya and his aunt Eui who live in the wild; he relays stories between them and his parents. They eagerly show him unusual plants they find for Amrita to transplant to his store. Amrita has no siblings.
Amrita is in the same universe as Wakana, Yori and Euclea. This means a bustling nexus of the spirit world might be a few hundred feet from his greenhouse-homehouse.
Entire body has a distinctive pink hue in gradients. Hair is mostly light pink while the skin leans more towards carnation pink. His body is also decorated with several markings resembling floral and lace motifs; this includes areas on his forearms, ankles and feet which resemble stockings. Extremities are even darker pink. Small "canards" of fur on his arms and legs are white. Irises are heart-shaped, his collar fur has a heart motif, and his ears deviate from a bunny's in that they are heart-shaped as well. He likes to wear his hair in twin bunches with polka-dot ribbons.
His moss tufts are generally soft and fuzzy and indicate good health. His jewel contains one stripe from a childhood illness, a Fluun equivalent of the measles.
Out and about, sweater vest and slacks.
Working, specially fitted clothing that protects him and attempts to give his moss some room, though it's quite difficult for him to keep his arm and leg tufts attached.
Tablet computer (useful for taking inventory)
