No matter how literal I take the idiom – working with my hands is a labor of love, and I’m not above parting with my pet projects to help others with issues others might deem meager or tenuous. About five hours into my own personal topographic project, I got a call from Ms. Gallagher that she was a bit ‘strung out’, to say the very least. One Einstein-Rosen Bridge and a circumvented traffic jam later and I found Natalie taut between one of her older contraptions used to assail the denizens of Pekepekton. Under any other circumstances, I’d cry foul – but this was hardly the time or place to rag on how this scenario was perfect poetic justice. Not to belittle the technical advancements of Earthlings, but your power supply units haven’t really evolved past the 6th century on Hirth. As such, fixing that portion up wasn’t too difficult! That is…until I realized the real problem was that nearly all of the wiring was improperly woven and the hotwires had little to no insulation. I’m certainly not one to walk away from a project knowing that more could be done to ensure longevity and efficiency – so, at the expense of Nats time, I took it upon myself to rework all of the innards, from breaker to circuit board. In fact, I used some of the superfluous parts I yanked from the rear to create a console of sorts to help adjust the intensity of the rollers and the depth of the ‘victims’. Admittedly, that took the most time and I was forced to MacGyver a few things from my own essence…but I did have my fingers already transmuted into the tools for the job, so why not put a bit more effort into this? Of course, I don’t think it was appreciated in the short term. |
