I've been wanting a milotic genjiku for some time (I also intend to design a dragonair mate for her), but I also loved this design for a mermaid.

This is Mellaria, also known as Millie and Airi. She is one of the merfolk, aquatic humanoids that possess magical abilities, including the ability to transform into humans, control the sea and weather, and manipulate other beings through melodies. Their powers and level of abilities are determined by the row of pearls on their bodies. They may look like ornaments or jewelry, but these pearls are actually organs that amplify their abilities and empathic abilities. All of her subspecies are born with one pearl and after every year they live, another one grows.

All of Airi's kind are born female, but can use their abilities to grow what they call 'horns' for mating. They feed on human flesh and fish, those nails of theirs growing into formidable claws. Their hair can also be used as a weapon (think octopi and medusa).

It is a tradition for merfolk to name their young after other aquatic organisms (think Pearl or Wava). Mellaria's name comes from a mix of the Fire Coral and the class of stinging organisms like Jellyfish.
