Wonderful October Banner art (Australia) done by Kyma

Kyma's Write-up "To evoke an authentically Australian feel for this piece, I combined an Aboriginal dot-painting motif with two of my favorite Aussie critters. Instead of the too-cliché kangaroo, I settled on an anthropomorphic saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) and a duck-billed platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus), a semiaquatic duo to match both the water-blue and sand-brown of the backdrop.
One of my fondest memories of visiting Australia is having taken a trip to a croc farm, and the species has remained an indelible image of the continent for me. (The labors of the late Steve Irwin have also entrenched the croc-Aussie association in the popular imagination.) The platypus, meanwhile, with its bizarre Frankenstein anatomy, is the animal most singularly emblematic of Australia’s remarkably unique biodiversity, and of course is a beloved national symbol as well.
The dot painting of indigenous Australian people is rightly famed worldwide, and I felt that my stab at the style made a fitting background for these two beasties from Down Under."
