The Protector’s Hidden Roots part 1
This is the sequel to A New Power Arising, and The Chosen Protector please read that before reading this or else you won’t understand what’s happening.
A couple of days have passed since the incident of Flame being captured. Also, changes have been made as well; Ice and Tim can officially come and go freely in the Guardian City. Ice was offered a job to be with the City Guard, he gladly accepted it and he was Assistant Head Captain or AHC for short. He mainly just helps the Head Captain and anyone else he can within the City Guard. As for Tim, he was requested by the Elders to teach the City Guard his engineering skills; he accepted this job and tried to teach what was necessary. Kage, Noel, and Sage were honored by the Elders, receiving ribbons, medals, and gratitude. The rest of the City Guard received the same thing as well. Any injured Guard on this mission was healed and honored shortly after. Serene was learning how to control and use her new-found powers. She practiced her flying, healing, and light-based skills and attacks. Serene learned how to most of this quickly as well. Flame was still amazed with Serene being able to use her necklace to find new power. He also just couldn’t get over the fact that she had wings available for her use. For some reason, his necklace seemed harder to activate. The last time he activated it, which was yesterday, he had no control of himself, he was going out of control, but luckily was quickly stopped by Serene before any real damage could be done.
As a new day began, Flame was reading out loud to Serene while sitting on the couch that was in their home. Serene was lying down on the couch, resting her head on Flame’s lap while she was looking at him. Flame had been reading out loud for the past half hour. Flame was reading a book called “A Knight by Dawn.” It was about a lone Gallade knight fighting anything that stood in his way of reaching his goals and getting revenge for his fallen comrades and family. The knight also only fought foes at dawn, after that, he stopped fighting. The author of the book was made by a local resident by the name of Zeratul. Zeratul has also had many years of experience in writing.
“Hey Flame. Think you could stop now?” Serene asked softly.
“Oh, of course Serene.” Flame said as he closed the book and placed it to the side of him. There was a sudden knocking at the door.
Flame turned his head towards the door “Hm? What timing, eh Serene?” Flame said.
“Yep,” Serene said while nodding her head “you may want to get that.” Serene sat up on the couch. Flame got up and walked to the door and then opened it. Lily and Sebastian were standing there, hand-in-hand, looking at Flame.
“Oh, Lily and Sebastian how are you two on this fine day?” Flame asked with an uplifting tone.
“We are both doing fine. Could we come inside?” Lily asked shyly.
“Ah of course, please come in.” Flame said as he opened the door wider for them. Lily and Sebastian walked inside Flame’s house. Flame closed the door behind them and said “Please follow me.” Lily and Sebastian both nodded and Flame led them to where Serene was sitting on the couch. As they arrived in the room, Flame sat down next to Serene. Lily and Sebastian sat down on another couch in the room, across from Flame and Serene, they also looked at them. “Is there any news you have to share with us?” Serene asked.
“There is one thing in particular actually...” Lily said softly and blushing red.
“Oh, and what might that be Lily?” Flame asked with curiosity. Lily and Sebastian were silent, blushing, and nervous.
“Well?” Serene said.
“Okay this is the news we have to share with you is...” Sebastian said pausing part way in his sentence. Lily stuck out her left hand and showed Flame and Serene an engagement ring. “That I asked Lily to marry me! She accepted and now we are engaged!” Sebastian explained excitingly.
“Congrats you two!” Flame said with joy.
“Glad to hear that!” Serene said enjoyingly.
“Yep! Once we are either Gardevoirs or a Gallade for Sebastian, we will get married!” Lily stated with joy and excitement.
“We were both wondering if you would like to come to our wedding whenever it comes up.” Sebastian asked.
“Oh, we would love to attend your wedding, right Flame?” Serene asked.
“Of course Serene.” Flame said.
“Great! Well, whenever we have it set up, we will drop by with more info for you two.” Lily said.
“Okay Lily.” Flame said. Lily and Sebastian both stood up and began to walk out of the Protector’s house.
“See you sometime in the future.” Lily said. Flame and Serene stood up as well and followed them to the door. Sebastian opened the door for Lily; Lily bowed her head and walked out the door. Flame grabbed the door as well and then Sebastian walked out as well. Flame and Serene waved goodbye to each of them and then closed the door gently. Serene and Flame journeyed back to the room they were in and then sat back down on the couch again.
“What do you want to do today Serene?” Flame asked. Serene was silent, thinking about other things.
“Serene?” Flame asked a little worried now.
“Not sure Flame. Want to talk for a little bit and then go visit the Elders?” Serene asked while glancing at him.
“That’s fine with me. What do you want to talk about?” Flame asked.
Serene blushed a little bit then said “When do you want to have kids Flame?”
Flame coughed a little bit, then blushed and looked away. He then said “Not really sure Serene. Maybe in a few years, maybe less, or even longer. I’m not sure, to me; it would be up to you.” Flame explained.
“Agreed on that one, I was just wondering if you wanted them soon or not. Hmm, how many kids would you want Flame?” Serene asked with curiosity and a grin on her face.
“How many you say?” Flame said as he thought about it “I think two would be fine actually. Maybe two girls, two boys, or even a girl and a boy.”
“Sounds good to me Flame.” Serene said as she was giggling about it.
“Let me guess. You’re thinking about it right?” Flame said with a little hesitation.
“That and what to name our kids.” Serene said as she looked at Flame with her blue sparkling eyes.
“Hmm...” Flame thought to himself.
“Any ideas?” Serene asked.
“A couple...” Flame said “If we had a girl, I would name her Tatiana. If we had a boy, I would go with Rudy; if we had another girl I would name her Shelley. If we had another boy, I would name him David. Don’t know why, and remember these are suggestions here.”
“Those are all nice names Flame. I like those; maybe someday we could name our kids.” Serene said as she looked and was blushing at the thought. Flame wrapped his arms around his wife and said “Someday Serene...Someday.”
There was another knock on their door. “Seems like we are popular today Flame.” Serene said jokingly.
“Heh, guess so.” Flame said as he got up and walked to the door. Flame opened the door as Tim was standing there, carrying a bag on his shoulder.
“Hello Tim. What brings you here today?” Flame said. Serene came behind Flame and wrapped her arms around Flame’s stomach and rested her chin on his shoulder.
“Flame, I have something for you and Serene actually.” Tim said.
“What do you have for us Tim?” Serene asked with curiosity and excitement.
“Not sure if you know this or not, but we were able to get some of the technology the humans had developed. I did my own research on it, turned out this is some weird technology they had. Either way,” Tim said as he reached into his bag he had with him and pulled out two rectangular black boxes. “This is what I brought for you.”
“What is it?” Flame asked.
“Basically it is a cloaking device. I also modified it for you as well. Here, put this on your chest or stomach area.” Tim explained as he handed Flame one of the boxes he had.
“Like this?” Flame said with confusion as he did what Tim told him to do. A light on the box flashed green, then a beeping noise was heard and then straps that came out of the box quickly and swiftly wrapped themselves around Flame’s body. After it was on Tim pressed the green button that was glowing right in the middle of the box, Flame and his clothing he had on vanished.
“Well Flame, it works that’s for sure. I can’t even see you right now!” Tim said with shock and laughter.
Serene giggled “He may be out of sight...But I still have him.” Serene hugged Flame even tighter.
“Urk, hey Serene not so hard!” Flame said while laughing.
“Flame, hit the same button to reappear.” Tim said. Then Flame appeared shortly after.
“That’s awesome!” Flame said.
“Before I forget, you can’t stay cloaked forever. You can only stay cloaked for about ten minutes max. Also it can recharge itself, takes roughly around twenty or so minutes to do so though.” Tim cautioned.
“Alright, thanks for the info.” Flame said. Time handed Serene the other box he had with him.
“Thanks Tim!” Serene said with delight.
“That is all I have for you. I need to be leaving now, have to teach now after all.” Tim said while shrugging.
“Ah, well don’t let us stop you from that then.” Flame said.
“Goodbye Serene and Flame” Tim said. Time began walking away from Flame and Serene’s house.
“Bye Tim.” Serene said while waving to him.
“It seems we are getting a lot of visitors today for some reason Serene” Flame said.
“Flame, want to drop by the Elders to see if there is anything going on?” Serene asked Flame.
“Yeah, sure, don’t see why not.” Flame said. Serene let go of Flame after a long while and walked out of their front door. Flame closed the door behind them. Flame and Serene began to walk in the direction of the Palace where the Elders reside in.
“Hey Flame!” A voice shouted from behind him.
“Huh?” Flame turned around.
“We need you to go to the Elders as soon as possible!” Kage said as he was running closer to Flame and Serene.
“Oh, well we were heading there right now actually.” Serene said.
“Even better, hurry up now, the Elders have something important to discuss with you two.” Kage said.
“Alright, c’mon Serene, let’s go.” Flame said as he began to run there.
“Bye Kage.” Serene also began to run with Flame to the Elders. After about eight or so minutes of running, Flame and Serene arrived at the Elder’s Palace. Flame walked up to the front door and opened it for Serene. Serene did a polite bow and walked in, Flame closed the door and walked in himself. They walked hand-in-hand to the main room where the Elders are usually at.
“Aero? Blizz? Elegon? You needed to see us?” Flame said, his voice echoing in the room.
“Yes we did” A voice responded. Soon after, all of the Elders appeared there.
“Hey Flame and Serene, glad you could come!” Aero said with a welcoming tone.
“Heh, we try. Anyways, what was is that was urgent you needed to speak with us about?” Flame said.
“Well a few things actually.” Elegon said.
“What might those be?” Serene asked.
