This is a theme song for my character Vice, guardian of the souls of limbo in the realm of light. Vice has had a difficult first few decades in life which made him earn his title. He works for the gods of death and acts as, well death. He guards the souls of the zone of silence (or limbo) which are in a sleep like state until they are ready to be judged by the gods of death. Due to his life and early history, he was able to learn the value of life and had a passion for protecting the souls. However he had to deal with his people being imprisoned. Though because of these things, it is difficult for him to stand by when he has to observe the many wars and battles of many worlds. He knows the pain that is caused, he knows the suffering, he wishes to use his awesome power to influence and stop many wars and battles. Sadly he cannot; unable to influence the lives of mortals. He is the one who reaps the souls, to walk past the silent faces screaming, having to ignore many of it. Vice is a force to be reckoned with and is very, very powerful. He does have to protect the souls from powerful foes such as certain devils and other soul takers. He commands all reapers and the only ones above him are the gods of death. Even the angels of death must take orders from him. Compared to Duo, Vice is more powerful, unless Duo is in his god form. Otherwise Vice is much more powerful. Vice hates to fight, he hates wars, he hates suffering, though he took the position because he could not allow innocent souls to be taken by the forces of wickedness. He had seen these things happen to his own kind, so he feels as the guardian of death, he could fend off wicked forces.
Whenever Vice shows himself, something is up, and any and all should stay away. This song radiates his power as well as the agony in his heart, unable to do much then reap souls. The song works so well
Should there be lyrics for this piece? I could write some, not sure about singing. The title however does work very well, basically describing some of the inner conflict the character has. Such as having to dwell in such a metaphorical world of eternal night, an abyss of sin, having to watch all these wicked deeds, knowing you very well have the power to stop them and save the day, yet unable to do it. Then, sometimes, having to commit such dark deeds in order to save the souls you slaughter. Keeping yourself lost in these vices, you have to keep your own emotions in the back of your mind, numbing yourself to such terrible sins. Deep inside the emptiness, all that is left is nothing but a void, a void filled with all the vices. This eternal night making you lost in your own sins, banishing yourself from all reason, cursed to remain so cold hearted. The only way to vent such dark desires is to do what you have to do best, defeat the evil, because it gives you a chance to escape, to escape the void of vice.
