This is only tangentially related to furryness, so I do pray I do not piss off anyone. While at rainfurrest I started sketching out some simple furry styled jewelry items. I have been bingeing on podcasts lately and find myself unable to concentrate on writing while I have people talking in my ear. Since I could not work on anything in that vein, I decided to go and try out one of my designs.
This is a simple paw pattern, done on a thin brass. Normally I'd do this on sterling silver, but brass is far cheaper to screw around with and I can toss it in the recycling bin when I am done without having to worry about it. I am overly not happy with how it turned out, partially due to the unevenness of my cutting job. It seems I am way out of practice in such things. This brass is also far too springy to sit well on a wrist, and I did not want to bother breaking out the jewelers torch just to relax a test piece. There also might be a potential fracture point on the paws, as repeated adjustment or bending of the metal might cause it to break there.
The stones are a mix of what I had sitting in my stone box, and one would normally be set in a fine silver bezel where I have that blue stone sitting. It actually looks not half bad with one on there, and I think a tiger's eye would look stunning set on silver. (mind you I have done bracelets with red and blue tigers eyes in that spot before, just not in a more furry style).
