That was the date of my last upload---it's been a minute! lol
Anyway, let's check on the popples. It seems they've found a mantis in the garden (I wonder what will happen)...
[Parry observes a mantis that has caught an insect]
PARRY (preaching to the popples): "From the mantis we learn that if we want to live fruitful lives, we must puh-puh-pray always!"
PANACHE and PIXEL: "Amen!"
[the mantis has disappeared]
PARRY (concerned): "Hey! Where did the mantis go?"
[it is quickly discovered that Puddle has eaten the mantis]
PARRY (annoyed): "Puddle!"
PUDDLE (hopping): "Oh!? Hahaha! I'm sorry, Parry, but not to worry---this only broadens the lesson!"
PARRY (skeptical): "Do enlighten us"
PUDDLE (innocent): "We learned that those who puh-puh-pray will go to Heaven!"
SCRIPTURE: "Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful" -Colossians 4:2
Oh my! D:
The inspiration for this comic came from an idiotic/unwarranted decision made by my Home Owner's Association (HOA). My HOA said I had to take down the little wooden fence on the side of my house ...that little wooden fence that's been here at least a dozen years. If I didn't remove the fence, the HOA would do it themselves, and charge me God knows how much money for the trouble.
So I did what any civilized person would do ...I kicked the fence down. ^^
But, before I unleashed my male aggression on the fence, I took a look around and discovered a beautiful mantis climbing upon it: https://sta.sh/01xdjlid6r81
...and, yes, I safely moved the mantis before getting to work. ^^
And another 'yes' is my popples do believe in the Christian God, though the popples do not consider themselves Christians (salvation is for people, not popples). :3 Even so, Parry knows the bible very well and applies it to his leadership.
Of (un-)interesting note, I drew this cartoon with one of those 100+ y/o Milton Bradley pencils ...which the reader (familiar with my pencil history) may recall, I donated a spare of to Bob Truby way back in January (2023), with the proviso that he upload it to his pencil museum (which he agreed to before I sent the pencil).

Oh, well---I cannot say I've fulfilled every promise I've ever made, so there's nothing to say.
Pencil...
The featured pencil is the 'Watch and Pray' by Union Gospel Press (UGP). My guess is UGP did NOT make this pencil. Rather, the 'UGP' stamp indicates the distributor/seller of the pencil (in much the same way that Rexall pencils were not made by Rexall).
I dunno a thing about the 'Watch and Pray' other than it's likely referring to the verse cited in the comic (Colossians 4:2).
XD of course, even though no spankings happen, your comics are amazing, and Ill always enjoy them. Had to add that last part cause many people know me for being a spanking addict, so me liking non-spanking work, kind of shocks some people, hehe.

SOooo the lesson we learn is...eat people who pray? o.O!
Seriously that's a cute cartoon and I'm glad to see the popples getting some attention / exposure. :)
As for the pencil it could be a warning, as from the movie "The Thing from another Planet", 'Keep watching the sky'! Yeah it's a stretch but it's all I could come up with right now. I'll try to do better next time. :D

So long as I can divert some attention from the Netflix 'popples', it's worth it. :3
Not the most exciting pencil, but i gave me something to write about (and was too good a fit for this comic).
In other news, my friend MasonMouse had this to say about the comic and pencil:
"In Genesis 1 we read that God gave life to "to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground." But in Genesis 2 it expands on this action to reveal mankind was specially breathed into, endowing him with a soul, 'nephesh' in the Hebrew, that transcends our mortal coil. So I posit that the mantis was not sent to the afterlife but, being a creature that 'moves along the ground,' it was instead snuffed immediately from existence by Puddle. Not an enviable fate. Additionally, the phrase on the pencil more likely refers to Matthew 26:41 which reads, "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." The context here being that Satan sought to tempt both Jesus and His disciples as the hour of His death approached and constant vigilance was required. The pencil perhaps serves as an additional daily reminder to remain aware of our spiritual surroundings as we willfully put on the armor of God and lift our spirits to Him in prayer (Eph. 6:18). So who all came here looking for a Bible lesson? Oh... none? Well, uh, sorry. Habit"

They're fun to play with, too. They will 'keep an eye on you' if you move slowly and close enough to them (like, they'll turn their heads in the direction of movement).
They can grab and bite, so you have to be careful. lol But they are nice insects---among my favorites, actually. :3

Haha I've actually done that with one before one time! It was cool to see the least :3
And yup, so I've always been cautious when to comes to those. And for sure! They are beautiful to look at. One of my favorites too! Along with stick bugs
