I thought they decided to essentially reboot it, disconnecting the previous cannon, which seems dumb for when new fans would check the old series later.. I'd guess maybe a dumb on the new staff maybe worries about M/F teens living together in a dorm or even being friends or something.
I'm assuming you made up this scenario. I mean you do what you like of course but if say they did find out later they're related I'm not so sure they'd be that disgusted, being comically minded I'd think they'd have some humorous fun with it to relieve the tension :P
