I write two species like this, the Gemani all have 2 or 4 bodies, but each set has only one mind. Other then that, Gemani are almost the same as humans. And The Hive has trillions of bodies of different configurations with only one mind across the star system.
In the same star system, the Blit bud off as clones sharing their progenitor's memories, but can later swap data to gain memories from other Blit. Since their memories take physical space, they have to prune personal memories and catalogue them for storage in the Archive Minds which are just giant stationary Blit.
