Just because you invoke the name of Jesus and parrot a few lines about sin and salvation doesn't make you a Christian. Joseph Smith was a heretical conman.

A few members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, as they call themselves, are probably actual Christians who don't even realize what their cult actually teaches as articles of faith. God will sort them out in the End of Days, but it'd help everyone to have solid theology backing their faith.

I will say this for LDS folks: They are usually the nicest, most together people I know, kooky beliefs aside.  Especially compared to other Christian-fanfiction "Abrahamic" faiths I could name but won't.

Quite so. I believe some Mormons are genuine Christians on a personal level, even though their cult very much isn't when you see their actual official doctrines and the proclamations of their founder. Like, just decent God-fearing people who never looked deep enough to see they're in a heretical cult.

Worst Mormon I've ever met was a Mormon the way Joe Biden or Nancy Pelosi are Catholics: A run of the mill leftist ideologue and worshiper of "social progress" who makes claims about being religious for clout and to add an air of legitimacy to his evil beliefs.

I'm a Baptist myself, but a while ago I saw an animated (rotoscoped) documentary about Mormonism, and in the film it was said that Joseph Smith declared that all Christian sects were an abomination. In fact the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints did not even declare itself Christian until the 1970s. I've even seen a comment by a Mormon invoking Psalm 82:6, along with other verses, taken out of context to justify their belief that people can be (or at least become) gods. Their whole belief system is weird to me.
