Leto... NO. It makes me mad to see people cling to the vices of their parents when it didn't end well with their parents. ~10 high res pages early release on http://patreon.com/grimart
Jeez Grim, did we know each other 20 years or so ago cause this all feels waaaaay too much like a recounting of my teenage years. After my grandparents who raised me passed away when I was 14 the rest of my teen years were a downward spiral of alcohol, drugs, extreme fetishes and habitual masturbation, and eventually dropping out of school. I suppose that's what happens when you're young and suffer a major loss that you're not old enough to have developed healthy coping skills to deal with though. Thankfully I quit drinking and doing drugs when I turned 20, got my GED, started seeing a therapist, and developed a healthier relationship with sex so everything turned out alright eventually; but this whole comic has been hitting way too close to home all around.

As someone whom The Human Experience(tm) doesn't make sense for, this sentence vibes with me for reasons probably entirely different than the reasons Leto is thinking it.

I have never actually encountered this mythical "good parents" everyone says the world needs and kids used to have. The most successful ones I've seen fall more along the lines of "I didn't fuck up my kids on PURPOSE!".

Yeah, most of the time the parents are broken from the outset one way or another and then recklessly have children. But because they never worked out their problems they end up emotionally stunted and distant from their children to where they can't form any meaningful bond, repeat similar mistakes to their own parents, and effectively treat their child like a goldfish rather than a actual individual. Then when problems of their now grown children rear its head and they are constantly being frustrated they go "Where did I go wrong" x infinity (when they already know or at least have a pretty good idea of what they did or didn't do).

Man I’m probably gonna have to like unfollow and wait for it to end before checking back in, the amount of second hand cringe and stress I’m getting is unbelievable (not a bad thing btw, it’s actually a sign of good writing to build up suspense like this). For my mental sake I can’t keep worrying about this kid.
