The "Out of sight out of mind" logic doesn't work, taking people's belongings never did well for kids as punishment. Hell she's not even going on him about the porn, moreso that it's specifically furry and assuming he will turn into a zoophile from it. Pretty sure he still has his phone too, and can look it up there. So taking the computer does nothing, and her striking her own child (aka physical abuse) is not the way to handle it.

Huh, seems rather close to my situation growing up. Though it was my father, and parents were not divorced.
He is the type of guy that if he had a bad day, it was my fault, I got knocked around and just took it quietly. Then I came out to my folks, he was furious, thinking it was my online friends that made me 'think I was gay' and tried to take my own laptop, which, I had saved up and bought myself, I was 16 or 17 at the time.
Though I assume Leto's events are going to end differently to mine. I tried to stop him, he struck me, hard, and I lost it and jumped him. Ended with him having a busted nose, a cracked rib, and a tooth cracked in half. I don't know what caused me to snap, it was him hitting me that time, or calling me a fa**ot, but I know all I saw was red. Only came out of it once my mother managed to pull me off him. I didn't even feel any of the blows he got on me until after I snapped out of it. That was also the last time he ever laid his hands on me.
While he an I are on acceptable terms now, I still resent him, but I keep up a friendly façade for the sake of my mother and sister.

I might have managed to moderate and get it under control, but that wasn't untill I got some first real friends at age of 16... And I am Straight so I at least didn't have THAT hanging on my mind. The real fault for almost ALL of his problems came from his family, And from what I saw so far, it seems that the mother was the main instigator of most of it.
