I think the implication is that he's a wannabe fascist dictator. Which I can definitely, see, he's got the cult of personality and the ultranationalism and so on. That said, yeah, they need to communicate more clearly.

He wasn't "ultranationalist", he was barely baseline nationalist. Literally to the left of where any good world leader should be. His whole "cult of personality" was a result of him being so good relative to what we'd had for thirty years previous that people would make jokes about how much better things would be to put him in as a dictator rather than replace him, and his enemies latched onto these jokes and pretended like they were serious.

The problem isn't the far left "not communicating clearly" - they tend to be pretty clear when they beg for white genocide, demand mass murder of babies, demand unchecked immigration to replace the population of a country, etc. - it's that leftist ideas are evil and they sometimes use paper-thin facades to obfuscate their intentions.
