Basically, Water Pets were stuffed animals designed for play in water (pools, the bathtub, etc). My guess is these were made from some sort of polyester, but I really dunno. I can say I don't dislike the concept, but I think these would turn nasty after a while (think little green spots of mold). Still, I can see kids getting some good use out of them, and the idea of seeing one of these pinned by its ears to a clothesline is charming (I *should have drawn that ...I really should've, but hindsight is always 20/20). :P
The Water Pets weren't the only stuffed toys made for use in water, albeit the Water Pets were the most versatile, as they could be used in either a pool or the tub. The other water plushies I discovered seem to be intended for the tub only, such as Murduck the Scrubba Duckie, and ...oh, what was the other? I 'want' to say there was a bear-based one called Bathtime Bubba, but I'm not entirely sure. I never had any of these toys. ^^
Anyway ...I thought this Water Pet was a bunny, but they're actually a puppy with long ears. I can easily see it now, but I really couldn't at first. ^^
Either way, mine is (I guess) whatever one wants it to be. I view mine as a female pupbit (puppy-rabbit) ...and I think she likes you. ^_^
I drew this card with my Zephyr and delineated the lines via this souvenir pencil from Hawaii. And, no, I've never been to Hawaii. I've seen the ocean, but only from the beaches of North Carolina. Despite how much water I draw, I'm actually somewhat afraid of water and cannot swim. ^^
I've actually never heard of Water Pets. Probably because they were before my time (1998) lol. But they do seem like they were good toys back in the day. Nice job man
