Let's look at page views (I have a reason for this).
Let's go back about six months (June 16, 2020), beginning with my upload of Pupstar.
95 views. Not bad (about 1 view per every ten watchers ...which reads worse than it is lol).
The upload after that received 304 views ...which is understandable given it was a tutorial (these are often collected by those outside my watcher base).
Let's continue this by just posting the views (I'll chime in only if I have something to say). Also, unless specified, I'll only look at what's in my main gallery---no scraps!
As of December 22, 2020, 11:38pm, EST, from least to most recent...
79, 147, 245 (Timmy cartoon), 62, 179, 99, 59, 129, 155, 106. 85, 66, 157, 45 (note to self: Care Bears aren't cool), 74, 115, 72, 65, 143, 68, 79, 116, 55, 61, 78, 98, 89, 98, 90, 55, 73, 93, 131, 128 (Sept. 11), 65, 54, 41, 130, 68, 43, 101, 87 (I hate this one---I need to redraw Matilda), 63, 77, 132 (my Berenstain review ...someone actually shot me a hate message and blocked me over this one), 94, 58, 61, 68. 71, 140, 68, 65, 49, 190 (Buttons and Rusty), 76, 116.
All right, now things are going to get interesting. We're up to November 9, 2020. The card is of Buster Bunny (Looniversity): 116 views.
Now, other cards have received more views than this, but let's keep going,
182, 249, 303, 287, 178, 241, 325, 389 (Fix the Fox), 317 (Christmas tree photo), 340, 1000+ (Sally Dunn), 415, 370, 168 (a drawing published less than 24 hours ago, as of writing).
That's a significant uptick in views, beginning in early November with my Buster cartoon.
Now, let's look at some items from my scraps folder (mostly Gene cartoons and some Timmy stuff),
Oct 12, 2020 (Peanuts cartoon): 25 views. 15, 28, 62, 54, 18, 24 (fox; Nov. 17), 107, 35, 34, 108, 193 ('Modern art'---this one was in my main gallery a few days), 411 (censored Gene cartoon, Nov. 25), 140 (the infamous 'Napkin'), 175, 122, 38, 253 ('Update'), 321 ('Sunset' painting---best $3 I ever spent!), 135, 200, 174 ('Cubs React').
Granted, it's hard to make a conclusion from the scraps, as I tend to give the better ones each a day or two in the main gallery before moving them. ^^
My point with all this is I've noticed a significant uptick in page views, beginning the second week of November 2020. This has not resulted in an increase in watchers or faves. Additionally, most of the faves I receive are from persons who habitually fave my work---I haven't noticed many unfamiliar usernames.
What this tells me is someone is linking to my art from somewhere away from DeviantArt. I don't know who this person is (or if this is even the case at all), but if someone IS playing games, I'd ask them to stop.
HYPOTHETICALWATCHER: "XDXDXDXDXD You mad, bro!?"
I'm not your bro, and I'm not mad (save, perhaps, in the Wonderland sense ...but that's a different topic!), I just want to know what's going on (I'm actually slightly amused, BUT if there is a problem, I'd like to be aware of it).
For the record, I don't consider the increase in pageviews as a good thing; again, it's likely a passive means of trolling.
I dunno what there is to troll, frankly---I already know I can't draw ...odds are, most trolls can't either (intelligent persons with marketable artistic skills tend to make better use of their time).
Last, yes, I'm an adult who makes *furry adult content for other adult furries, on platforms intended for it (...content which you'd never see if you weren't tag-searching for it yourself) :P
*which is exceptionally tame---even FA accepts most of it, :P
Either way, I plan to begin hibernating this January (so play around while you can, I guess ...who knows, maybe your antics will boost one of my scribbles to DA's 'popular' page? XD). :3
