Millions of years ago, when the giant cousins of birds ruled the world
The land of the river Ganges was detached and buried in molten earth
And a massive space rock approached the other side as if it was hurled
The planet was covered in flames of death followed by eventual rebirth
Two great clades emerged to rule from the pile of bones and ash.
The offspring of the small grow mighty when the giants were slain.
A new kind of creature grew wings after the great meteor's crash
That is what has been determined from the fossils that remain.
While some beasts took to the sky others went back to sea
Still they breathe air through strange nostrils before every dive
Some of them growing into the most massive creatures ever to be
Yet they feed on swarms of such shrimpy little things to survive
From the ocean's giants down to the smallest gray shrew
Hair, however sparse, unites every species of beast therein classed
Of the bumblebee sized flyer and the baleen colossus this is true
Yet, in number of forms, the feathered ones have them surpassed
Avian creatures survived the impact and lava that culled out the rest
Their giant relatives perished leaving only that one branch of the tree
In times of inferno sometimes the small animals make it out the best
The count of parallel Earths this is the case on approaches infinity
Yet on a set of these worlds the story of life has recently diverged
When the greatest gift was bestowed to the taxa that this text mentions
For on another set of them only one sapient species is has emerged
For them to know little of those which caused this or their intentions
It is simply a fact of life there every bird and furred beast has grown wise
An Earth where civilization is shared across thousands of species
Where a hero with membranous wings and cyborg birds soar the skies
Do the mystic artifacts found here merit such overthought theses?
Trees are holy where leaves hold the great magic of the power of life
Where a faction has energy weapons and secrets hide in a cave
Ancient sealed vampires and half machine armies cause great strife
And a child stands in the way of one leader making everyone his slave.
