Danny the wolf lived in the forest with his family. He lived with his mom, dad, two brothers and one sister. They all lived happily in there forest den.
One day Danny was out looking for food, when suddenly, he spotted a rabbit, and chased after it, but the rabbit was too fast for him and got away.
Danny looked around. he noticed the woods looked different. He had never been in this part of the forest before. He sniffed around looking for a familiar sent, but all the scents were strange to him.
The clouds started to get dark. Rain began to fall from the sky. Danny did not like the rain. He hoped that there would not be any lighting or thunder. Danny was afraid of the lighting and thunder.
Out of nowhere came a flash of light, followed by a loud crack. Lightning had struck close to Danny. It scared him a lot. He ran as fast as he could away from where he was.
Danny was really lost now. Everything was dark and scary. The young wolf found a hollow log to hide in. Having shelter, Danny went to sleep.
In the morning, the sun was shining as water dripped from the trees. Danny crawled out of the log. He looked around to see what was around. There was a path. the young wolf sniffed the trail, and caught the scent of something new.
What could it be he thought. Fallowing his nose, Danny went down the path to a wide meadow. Playing in the middle of the field was a red fox. The fox was playing with butterflies. One of them landed on the fox’s nose.
Danny walked up to the fox, and in a soft voice he said “Hi there, my name is Danny, and I am lost” Danny’s tail hung low as to not scare the fox. The fox, having not realized there was a wolf so close was startled a bit.
Looking the wolf over, the fox became curious. She had never seen a wolf before either. “My name is Sara, What are you?” She sniffed the wolf curiously. “I am a wolf.” Danny replied. “What are you?” Sara laughed, “I am a fox silly. Haven’t you ever seen a fox before?” Danny lowered his ears, “No, are there many of you?” Sara smiled as a butterfly landed on her head, “Yep there are lots of us.”
Danny was surprised, he had been all over his packs territory and had never seen a fox, and maybe; Sara knew how to get back home. Danny asked “Do you know where any other wolves might be?” Sara thought for a moment. “I know, I bet Mr. Owl would know! He is the smartest animal I know. He lives over that way. I will go with you.” Danny smiled and wagged his tail as he went off with his new friend to see Mr. Owl.
Danny and Sara walked along and heard someone shouting, “Help, Help!” Danny and Sara ran towards the noise. They found a little hedgehog clinging to a branch. He was hanging precariously over a small stream. Danny grabbed the branch in his muzzle. He carefully lowered the little hedgehog to safety.
The hedgehog scurried off the branch and looked up at the two larger animals. “Thank you for saving me. My name is Bill. My home got washed away last night. All i could do was hold on.” Danny and Sara smiled at the little hedgehog. “You’re welcome,” Danny said. “We are on our way to see Mr. Owl. I got lost last night and don’t know how to get home. Maybe, Mr Owl will know where you can find a new home.” Danny waged his tail excited to have two new friends.
The three of them went on their way and came to a large oak tree. the tree had a large hole in the middle of it. Inside was a large white owl. His back was facing the three friends. Sara spoke up, “Mr. Owl, sorry to bother you but we could use some help. My friend Danny here is lost and Bill here lost his home in the rain last night.”
Mr. Owl sutured in his nest and looked down at Danny, Sara and Bill. He slowly spoke “Wolf your home is down that path to the north. Hedgehog you can find a new home in the same direction. Now let me get some sleep” With that Mr. Owl went back to sleep in his nest.
Sara went with Danny and Bill. Shortly up the trail they found a nice little hole that was empty. It was perfect for Bill. “Wow this is better than the last home I was in. Thank you both and come back and visit soon.” with that bill scurried into his new home.
Further down the path Danny heard a howl. It was his father looking for him. Danny and Sara ran off and sure enough not to far away, was Danny’s fad looking for him. The two of them greeted each other. Danny’s father thanked Sara for her help.
From that day on Danny, Sara and Bill were the best of friends and had many grand adventures.
