Yes, yes: the hands are wrong! I should have drawn the character with Lego 'minifig' hands (just two fingers in a 'clip' formation). Alas, I drew this pretty quick (for an ACO) and, by fault of habit, I looked at my own hand when drawing as opposed to my reference (...I'm not a minifig, at least, not as of writing). ^^
Anyway...
Hands dismissed, this is Pigsy. Pigsy is from Lego's new 'Monkie Kid' theme. :3
So, is 'Monkie Kid' based on Journey to the West? Absolutely!
Pigsy here, I think, is based on Pig (just 'Pig') from the JttW series (at least from the version I have, translated by Xu Li).
I'm often unimpressed with Lego's offerings, but I must say I like what I see from 'Monkie Kid'. :3
At first glance, the Monkie Kid theme looks like a rehash of Ninjago ...and that's exactly what it is, but it's a MAJOR improvement!
First, I really like the Monkie Kid sets (albeit, I plan to buy only one, along with a sticker sheet from another, once prices go down a bit).
Sets aside, what's really a surprise here is the quality of the Monkie Kid cartoon.
As for the featured pencil, I drew this with a Sanford 'Design' 3800 drawing pencil. It's ...a nice pencil, but I prefer some of the others I've used (Sanford isn't all that great in general).
