WATCHER: "When Gene says Marten I knew this was made for DeviantArt in the first place"
I'm known as both 'Marten' and 'Chippy'. lol However, most know me as 'Marten', so Marten's my default handle. :3
Anyway...
I did say, a year or two (or three) ago that I'd revisit the world of Psalty the Singing Songbook (PtSSB) ...and so I have. ^^
For those who don't know, PtSSB is a strange, Christian-oriented musical series for young children (and, yes, Psalty is an anthro hymnal).
Among Psalty's friends is Charity Churchmouse: the lead singer in a Christian pop choir. When Charity appears in stories, it's usually for her to learn whatever lesson the story hopes to impart to its listeners (Charity develops as the series progresses).
Now, as this is a 'Ferret-Style' drawing, I haven't tried to draw Charity on-model. Instead, this is how Charity would look in my world (if, say, she were to visit Gene and Tasli ...which won't happen; don't ask) ^^
I effectively just raised Charity's cheeks and flattened her head a bit. Additionally, I ditched the white gloves and Minnie-Mouse shoes (I don't care for either, in general).
That said, Charity's costume here is otherwise the same as that which she wore on the cover of her 'Charity Chuchmouse: On the Front Line' album. I want to say the illustrator was thinking 'captain in the army' (judging by the two bars on Charity's hat), but (to my uneducated eye) Charity's costume says 'flight attendant'. ^^
Anyway, I drew this with a 'Foremost' model *pencil from Reliance. Why? Because first and foremost, you can rely on the Lord!
...Ok, if you didn't find that funny, you probably won't like the Psalty series, as it's replete with such humor and is (of course) religious. ^^
*sorry it's not clearer---the paint rubbed off!
That said, I'm Christian, so the latter tag doesn't bother me so much, albeit given PtSSB's demographic, its Christian views are very simplistic and (at times, consequently) painful to listen to. :P
The basic story is Charity allows her ego to come between she and her choir, which causes break-up ...just before an important musical competition, of course. Will Psalty and his Biblical wisdom be able to reach Charity and bring everyone back together before it's too late?
It's hardly a spoiler to answer 'yes' here, as the songs are more important/interesting than the story. ^^
oh wow that takes me back to when I was a kid owning(well not me personally it was the families copy) the third album "Sing-sational servants" where charity gets full of herself and is mean to her other chior members (poor limburger) then gets tricked in a dream to sign a lifetime contract by a shady record promoter rat..... sigh goodtimes^^

went to the credits just to make sure what i told you was correct being that Debby Kerner Rettino wasn't in IMDB as playing Charity Churchmouse for that album, and her husband is indeed Ernie Rettino, the guy that plays Psalty. :-)
found on youtube a rip of the video of album 4 singsational servants :-) https://www.youtube.com/wa
