I wonder why sega never made a decent Rouge figure? Kinda like how we never got a poseable renamon either.

Jazwares got close to making one, but lost the license before they could make her, and none of the others held the license long enough to make the expanded cast of characters that would include her (to date, the Toy Island Rouge figure from the Sonic X line remains the only official figure of her.)  Toy companies have this unfortunate habit of not making female characters for toy lines intended for boys, and if they DO make any it's usually one character per wave, often short printed or stuck in a multi-pack.  For context, Tomy only got around to making Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Metal Sonic (along with their classic counterparts) for their 3 inch line, Zavok and Infinite only got put in for the Sonic Forces tie-in and even then it BARELY came out.  They DID have Amy planned for a future wave, but she would have come out after Shadow and Eggman.  Of course Sonic is far from the only line to do this, look at Hasbro, the first transformer wave to have 2 female characters in it didn't happen until the franchise's 30th anniversary, and their Marvel Legends figures still have a tendancy to make only 1 female character per wave at most unless it's TOTALLY unavoidable like for Captain Marvel, and they always put the most important part of the wave's build a figure (usually the torso) with her because they think they need that kind of incentive to buy it.

The way Sonic works, we would expect the first figures made to always be Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Amy, Eggman, and Metal Sonic; the 4 main heroes and the 2 main villains.  After that, they would make Shadow and Supersonic, the most popular rival and the super form everyone loves.  If a character prominently features in a recent game their odds of getting a toy greatly increases, that's how we got figures of the werehog, the Babylon Rouges, and the Knight figures from Sonic and the Black Knight, as well as a couple wisps.  By a massive stroke of luck Sonic Generations came out at the peak of the Jazwares line's popularity which is almost certainly the only reason we got toys of the Chaotix, Silver, and Blaze.  Where would we put Rouge now?  Due to her massive online popularity they might move her up along with Shadow, but that depends on whether Jakks Pacific can still get over the "girl" issue.

All very true, I should already know about female characters getting shafted in toy lines. I waited pretty much all my life for a Bucky O'Hare Jenny figure. No joke, I must have seen the cartoon in 1996 or 1997 and wanted the toys so bad! But it was not until 2017 when boss fight studio released their version that i could get my hands on a Jenny fig.

I am sure some marketing guy has data that proves female figures dont sell and we are both idiots for wanting them, but NOTHING puts me off a line more that knowing I wont get the full team.

Take the funko Fantastic Mr Fox figures. Why the hell did they think that the rat would sell better than Felicity? I am not going to get Mr fox or the Ash figures if I cant get the full family.

I'm pretty sure they're working on outdated marketing models, take transformers for instance.  Back when they were making the cartoon the writer wanted to make Ratchet (the medic) a female character, but the boss told him it was a show for boys and they didn't want to put a girl on the cast because nobody would buy that toy.  When the cartoon aired the show creator's DAUGHTER immediately became a huge fan and asked why there weren't any girls on the show, so they had to make up female characters like Nightbird and Elita-1 and her resistance team, of course none of these characters would actually get toys for decades, but it goes to show how you shouldn't assume you have a limited audience.  (As far as I'm aware, the first female transformer character to ever get a toy was one of the headmasters, Minerva, though she was a repaint of Nightbeat, the first female transformer to get a toy that wasn't a repaint of a male figure was Transmetal Blackarachnia.)

Wow, I didn't know any of that. What bullshit that is.
Its so frustrating to see companions do this.

Another issue is that toy companies keep thier sales data close to their chests.
If everyone was more forthcoming with what sales and what flops, I feel this misconception would clear up eventually.
Obviously an Arcee is going to look like a failer on paper when compared to a Megatron. But how does she stack up with others transformers ouside of the main group? (Starscream, Bumblebee, Soundwave, etc).

A fair bit better than some no named cannon fodder that was in a single ep of the OG show, I would think. And yet we get endless jobbers like that. Bots that has a single figure in gen two or was in three panels of a comic from 2001.

If they sell, then I am sure a Airazor will do fine.
