Early in August, I found out that a Patreon representative had gone on record that TF and mind control related art was not allowed on their platform. I made it a point to get off of there as soon as I was able, but the process did not go smoothly at all.
I drew this to vent some of my frustrations and explain what it felt like, since every solution I found was either incomplete or flawed in some way that made it unusable to me.
Right after my frustrating experience with solutions packaged specifically to be Patreon replacements, Tiff suggested that we change tack and instead try setting up a Wordpress site with plugins meant for handling subscriptions.
Needless to say, that went far more smoothly, and here we are today.
Now that I have my own site built and launched on my own terms, this is behind me. However, it's important to look back a little and remember where you start from once a problem has been solved; at the very least to learn from it, at most, to acknowledge the achievement.

I'm honestly feeling the same way about Patreon, though this picture really hits home about a lot of things in my life right now though haha... Patreon used to be such a great platform for artists and now it's like they've gone completely prudish about what they allow. If you don't mind me asking, how hard was it to set up a system on your own site like that? It's something I'm also looking into but I don't really know anything about building a website.I was considering Squarespace but maybe Wordpress would be easier?

Very sorry for not getting back to you on this one Hydro, but it was *fairly* straightforward once I figured out which solution would actually work for me. Most of my time was wasted testing out lots of bespoke solutions that weren't suited to my needs. They were either lacking in features or used Stripe, which isn't available to me.
I ended up using Wordpress with the s2member plugin on my own server. It does most of what I need in very simple ways, and for the most part I can grab plugins for other specific things. Feel free to DM me if you would like any further information!
