Sorry this isn't the next page of the Digimon comic, more of that is coming I assure you. However, I needed to work on something else for a little bit.

This is Gelle Grant-Moreau a reimagining of an old 3.5 D&D character I briefly played in the Iron Kingdoms Setting. It was  during the Witchfire Trilogy in which I originally played this character and he was a Ranger/Gun Mage. He was a temporary fill in character I created because I forgot my normal character's character sheet at home when I went over to play at my friend's house. Thankfully it was easy enough to explain because in the previous session our group had parted ways to do a few things on their own.

Fast forward to now, we are planning on taking a break from our main 5e campaign (we are 83 sessions into Curse of Strahd) to play a one-shot mega dungeon exploration. This is because one of our normal players cannot join us this week so it is just something to kill time with. As a result it seemed fitting for me to recreate my previous fill-in character for the occasion.

Gelle was originally a human, but not anymore! I used Tabaxi stats, but he is a fox, not a cat. He's also just a Ranger now, since Gun Mages do not officially exist in 5e. Instead he just has a magical revolver as a weapon. That and a whip made out of water. :)

Anyway, I tried some different shading techniques on this picture, and while I am happy with how it turned out, it also took a really long time to create.

Hmm is there a way to turn your D&D character into a beastial later on or do you have to start out with it like that?

Also yes to more D&D.

This character started out like this. I based his stats off the "Tabaxi" player race (which is actually a cat race) but made him a fox instead. However, there are other animal races too (mostly reptilian unfortunately):

Dragonborn (humanoid Dragon without wings or a tail
Lizardfolk (generic reptile)
Tortle (turtle)
Kobold (smaller dragonborn basically)
Yuan-Ti (snakes)
Aarakocra (birdfolk)
Kenku (wingless birdfolk)
Centaur (horse)
Minotaur (cattle)
Loxodon (elephant)
Simic hybrid (mostly fish creatures)
Shifters (shapshifters)
Changelings (shapeshifters)
Merfolk (fish/dolphins/etc)

And there may be more...

As for becoming a bestial character later on in a game, the bets way would be via means of some form of lycanthropy (werewolves, werebears, wereboars, wererats, etc.) Or you could utilize a spell like polymorph or Disguise Self for a more temporary transformation.

You can always work with your DM too on a homebrew method to change a pre-existing character or to create a new race altogether.

Also, Druids can shapeshit, so that's a great class to play.

Was trying to create a celestial kerubim or feline celestial like my main char. But hard to really set it down oh well I will mainly work on just having fun with it all I do love the lore and the fun bits of magic but a lot of D&D doesn't exactly explain magic well mainly on what it is or how its generated besides vague bits of the weave. Oh especially bard which I mean you could kind of explain with cymatics. Maybe I just like talking nerdy XD

If you were to play a Tabaxi Sorcerer with a celestial ancestor that could possibly work. Or a Tabaxi Cleric whose personal background says they have celestial blood. There are many options. But yeah, fun is the main goal. I'm actually playing my centaur rogue right now, though we are taking a small snack break. She's quite similar to my own fursona.

Where exactly do you play online?

We use Roll20 for our games. It's pretty convenient for most things. Though we communicate via discord rather than the built in audio system that Roll20 has. https://roll20.net/

It's definitely one of my favorite pass times. I have all of the first party 5e books physically and about 1/3 of them digitally on Roll 20.

Druids and monks don't care about Stuff/material possessions. Though a Druid pirate does sound like one character I know who was a pirate and mainly used it as just an excuse to explore find art and excavate long lost cultures so basically Eizen from tales of berseria

Yeah, the general druid or monk doesn't care about materialism. But that doesn't mean there aren't exceptions. For instance, my pirate is one who does love and respect nature, but he especially enjoys its carnal pleasantries. He enjoys aesthetics and fine living. Basically he deifies certain aspects of nature but then brushes what he considers to be "the ugly parts" under the rug.

I'd much rather talk on magic since everyone has their main end goals. You could say having different wants or resources reduces struggle and fighting over the same resources which is one reason I like the idea of magic since well its by its own design a degree of reources, actions, and end hoals that just increases everything  but thats me

Magic is fun that way. Though, unfortunately, in the more recent D&D settings they seem to be trying to make magic more rare or difficult to utilize. I mean, DMs can of course ignore that feature if their group wants to, but they've made it so that trying to do stuff like creating a magical item shop is fairly difficult by not really providing a good example of prices/value for each piece of magical equipmemt. Rather they give a very rough scale based on item rarity. Again, it can be worked around, but the authors didn't make it as simple as it used to be in that particular regard. Though a lot of 5e really has improved on what 3.5 had to offer. (I never got to play 4e though).

Never did but I wish they'd explain it more like
Wizard: magic comes from understanding weave and taping into multiverse
sorcerer: magic comes from heritage I generate my own
Warlock: My patron or elder diety grants me magic and knowledge by shoving tentacles... in um uh ... places
Bard: I just made fun of a goblin and he died

Honestly the bard should be more like Cymatics. You know how tones generate shapes based on frequency should be like
Bard: my lyrics so sick they leave an impression on the weave that tear reality so don't get salty as I sire heirs with some wenches that Inspire adventures
