She comes from an alternate universe populated by bugs. She wanted to fight for her friends, but she was born without a shell, so she wasn't allowed to. But she loved the mythical stories about the giant "humans" and the way they fought to protect the multiverse, especially the one called "Captain America".

One day she found a fragment of red and silver metal, and she knew it had to be from Cap's shield. She melted it down and refashioned it into a miniature duplicate. She wears it on her back, and can toss it and kick it in midair.
