some wanted to see my not so new rifle and my new weapon sight, the holosun 510cG. Both painted green. Not the best paintjob, but eh better looking than plain black. The small original dot sight is broken but still under warrenty, bought directly from desertech. Caliber is in .308 and yes, I do or did have the early production issues with gas operation and the extractor ripping chunks off of cartridge rims. Everything is under a newly implemented lifetime warranty by the company. I have already replaced the gas key, now just waiting for the updated extractor. All in all I am still happy with my rifle, unlike allot of other reviewers.

I've seen that one years ago. Looks cumbersome with the carry handle in the way.

It's not that bad, like an M-16 that way. The only time it becomes an issue is mounting of optics, but a Canadian company makes a flat top upper, (www.m14.ca)you can buy it this way or have it converted, it does alter the rife slightly. I'm fine with the factory irons for now.. I like it because it's cheap ($700 cad for mine), it's semi, it's a bull pup and it's non restricted in Canada..

5.56/.223 is correct. It checks all the boxes to be restricted in Canada, semi auto, bull pup with short length and it's "a scary black gun",but for some reason it is not restricted.. The gun laws are weird here, it's the magazine that determines the rifles capacity! Rifles are no more than 5 shot here legally, pistols 10 round, so if I have a legal pistol mag that holds 10 rounds and it fits in my rifle, voila, I'm legal at 10! Now if I find a legal 50 Beowulf mag, it holds 15 556/.223 and if it fits my rifle, I'm now legal at 15!

eh, a .50 cal would be fine to shoot once, but wouldnt be usable here in this state, at least. There isnt an out door range to ever use it here. You'd have to be in one of those states with WIDE open plains.

the reason why its unrestricted it because its a chinese rifle. "Eh, I dont see anything scary about this one. You're good, sir" lol

Don't want the 50 either, just the mags, they give me a legal 15 Rd option, because 15 223/556 fit in it and it fits my rifle.. The sellers know this, that's why a Beowulf mag here is over $100!!
My mares leg also busts out of all the rules, capacity, length, but it's a lever action, so non restricted, in the USA it's considered a pistol, add a stock and it becomes a short barrel rifle, not so in Canada, it just becomes more legal (we don't have a short barrel rifle category up here), but I'm not supposed to use high cap mags in my 10/22 because there exists less than 500 Ruger charger pistols in Canada, so the high cap mags can fit in those pistols and the cops don't like that! But it's not a law, so, just needs to challenge it in court.. A local company started making magazine well adapters that make a Remington 597 high cap mag fit into the 10/22 and it's legal! This would also fit in the charger pistol they are worried about, but that is ok...
Yeah, our gun laws are a mess!!

Thought it was some cheap Tavor clone until I went to their site. That little guy's expensive! x3 Really not a bad run at the paint job. Duracoat?

lol, Cheap? NOOoooo, far from it. Tavor? No way, I wanted at first when I first got into guns, but looking at it, i really didnt like the design of the original tavor and the hand guard is too short for my hands, did not like the charging handlebar on one side. The whole thing wasnt exactly modular enough for my tastes. I originally wanted to get the MDR, but at the time bushmaster didnt bring out any of the conversions, but that is one of the standard shaped rifles I want to this day. Once the MDR was announced, I found my rifle.

There are two kinds of camo paint I use and a clear coat. The one for this rifle is krylon ultra flat olive camo spray paint with rust-oleum matte clear acrylic enamel 2x coverage clear coat.
