A light pierced through the darkness of the dank, musky room. The shadows seemed to collapse in from all corners of the room. Music echoed though from where I had no clue, it was a fairly familiar tune though THAT I knew for certain.
The music... it was so familiar but why? Had I heard the tune before? I focused on the small pin light that cut through the room. The music came from just outside the hole it seemed. Nothing else in the room was discernible in the pitch that surrounded me. The pin light was my main focus in the room.
I used the light to some advantage and examined myself in it. I found that I had been stripped of my clothing for the most part. All that was left on me were my pants, and my tank top. When I examined my arm I found an oddity that hadn't been there before. I'd never seen the mark but upon further examination I found it to be a pin or needle of some sort! A number was written near where the pin or needle was protruding: 13168947.
I pulled my arm away and went about feeling my way around the room. It seemed there was nothing at first but I soon shuffled into a small soft cot that had been laid down on the floor... my apparent bed for my stay in this odd place. The room, besides the cot, was void of anything of particular note.
Hours seemed to pass, then the hours grew longer turning into days... Time has such strange characteristics when you have no way to measure it. I feel asleep.
I awoke an indeterminable time later, to find that my circumstance hadn't changed. The pin light was still there and the music still played... though now the tone and attitude seemed to have changed. The music was harsher sounding.
In the dark with only the pin light my mind began to play with the music. Terrifyingly it seemed to mold images straight from the music itself. Odd creatures danced before me in the darkness darting to and fro from out of nowhere. I huddled in a corner as the creatures danced about to the music.
The music grew louder and faster and harsher, the creatures grew faster and more frantic in their flailing dances! Louder and faster! Faster and faster did the creatures go before my eyes flashing and gnashing teeth and body! The bodies crashed against one another violently as the music got louder and louder! The sight proved to much for me... I feinted after witnessing one creature flail and flop about disturbingly disjointed.
Awaking once again to the pin light and music I hurriedly made my way over to the pin light and knocked on the wall. The sound that came back was horridly hallow sounding. I looked through the hole only to be blinded by the light... there was nothing of any use over in the other space, that I could see of anyway. The odd thing was in the short bit of the space I did manage to glimpse there was just a simple table with a radio sitting on top. Nothing else caught my eye...
I managed to find my way over to the cot and curled up slightly. Sleep this time was harder to come by it seemed. I must have laid there for sometime... the tune on the radio had changed twice over by the time sleep finally found the mercy to pull me from the waking world.
Upon waking I found the music that now filled the room to be of a much calmer note. My mind seemed to take to it right away. The music was much softer this time and soon the images came again. This time colours rolled about in the air making awesome and striking landscapes that rolled and moved with the music.
I must have watched the spectacle for quite some time because I once again fell asleep resting upon the cot this time. Strangely this time the music did not remain in the waking world and await my return... it invaded my dreams. The landscape's I'd witnessed in my waking hours filtered into my dreams rolling and moving about with the heavenly music playing in the background. This time though the music seemed to have a darker undertone behind it. Like the beginnings of a wild fire, the embers of the horrifying tune crept through the peaceful music dotting the landscape in horrible darkness and grey mist. As time shuffled on the darkness grew as the tune got louder and louder. Soon the grey mist began to consume the world, the trees, and animals... the darkness crept along the ground wilting any greenery it touched. The animals... those poor dream made souls! The animals howled and yelped as the darkness consumed them, twisting their flesh and bones into horribly contorted shapes. I awoke to the dream world having broken into the waking. I curled up against a wall shivering in fright as the 'animals' danced and spun about to the insane tune that now seemed to shake the very walls of the room! The pin light... the only ray of hope that I had in the room was on the opposite wall and shown little light upon me.
My arm I could see... the numbers that had been written there were blurred. The music climaxed and I looked up to find the creatures all dancing frantically! Flailing about the 'animals' each had pain twisting their faces into frighteningly abstract portraits of their former existence. As the music stopped the 'animals' stopped, each face turned to me... their faces.. oh god their faces! I screamed and feinted...
In my sleep I could hear the waking world... muffled... almost mute. I could make out words and sentences, one sentence that stood out among all others: "Test subject has endured further then most. Make a note of the endurance time..."
