The Care Bears
The Confidence Secret
3rd Part
Chapter 29

*****

It was not Sky-Heart Bear's custom to be late for some engagement, but that was just the case that day, as he drove the cloud car along the paths that led to Care-a-Lot and the Annual Caring Fair. Beside him was Longbow Heart Wolf, who was silently staring out at the landscape, casting a few short glances toward the bear.
- I do not know how to thank you for inviting me to the Fair - she said at a certain moment with a small smile on her lips - But am I not going to scare someone? After all, wolves have a very bad reputation...
- Of course not, all the bears and cousins already know you - said the bear calmly, not looking at the wolf - There is no reason for anyone to be frightened.
- But what about the children, will not they be scared to see a wolf with red scratches around their eyes? After all, those spots leave me looking fiercer than I really am...
- Well, they're very beautiful to me - Sky said softly, with a slight smile - Do not worry, the children will surely like you very much, and if any of them find your looks strange, there's nothing good talk can solve.
- You're already talking like a real Care Bear. Quite different from when we met, when you practically knew nothing about humans or even Care Bear Family.
- I've worked hard to learn the things of this world, and my friends have helped me a lot. You might as well come to Care-a-Lot to live with me... I mean, no!... I... - the blue bear felt his cheeks flush as he realized that he had said too much, trying to correct his own words - With me and the other bears and cousins in Care-a-Lot.
Longbow just stared at Sky-Heart and struggled not to laugh out of the embarrassment and shyness of his companion. She understood what he meant very well, and deep down she liked him when he accidentally talked about his feelings.
- You're not only a skilled fighter, you're also quick to woo a woman - she commented in mischievous tone - You should be very successful at Edron, with female bears and female cousins...
A sad expression appeared on the swordsman's face at those words, and he sighed deeply as he tried to remember his past life in Edron.
- I've never been a heartthrob, and as far as I remember, I've only had a girlfriend in my life - he said grimly, before looking sheepishly at the wolf - At least until then.
The young wolf smiled kindly at this comment, for she knew how difficult it was for Sky-Heart to share her feelings with others. Even though he was not an antisocial person, the bear preferred to hide his thoughts under his watchful, focused gaze, especially when it came to his past in Edron. In those two or three years that Longbow had known the warrior, they had only talked about it once or twice, and yet with great insistence from the wolf, especially since the bear lost some of its memories after remaining frozen magically for centuries.
Fortunately he had found in the wolf a companion willing to make him come out of that lonely abyss where he lived, as well as always teach him new things about the Earth and humans. And thanks to the help of Longbow, as well as his best friend Shimmers, Sky-Heart became more and more experient in his caring missions, though he was still a silent bear, watchful and objective.
- Well... If you'd like to know, I like the idea of living in the Kingdom of Caring - the wolf said, smiling after a short silence - It's the most beautiful place I've ever seen, not to mention the fact that I'll be close to other bears and cousins of my kind and... Of you.
- And why have not you come yet? - asked the wizard bear with curiosity - Already on his first visit to Care Bear Family asked him to stay.
- Because it was not the right time, I still needed a little more experience in the use of bow and arrow combined with my magic. But I can get this experience together with my friends, to become stronger.
Sky-Heart smiled slightly contentedly, glancing sideways and flirting with Longbow while she also acted the same way. At that moment they arrived at Care-a-Lot, and the wolf was the first to notice something different in the place.
- Is that a helicopter? - she asked curiously, pointing to a white aircraft in the clouds - Are you using flying machines to bring the children to the Kingdom of Caring?
- No, only cloud cars, although they're also fly machines - the blue bear replied with a slight frown - Something tells me we'll have special guests at this Fair.
- You mean grown-ups? - the wolf insisted, turning to the bear.
- Yes, adults. And since True Heart and other bears and cousins do not like working with adults, something tells me also that today will not be a most lively day for them...
And the bear quickly landed his cloud car and drove along with Longbow to the festival, while they both wondered what other surprises were reserved for them that day.
*****
The Annual Caring Fair had all sorts of toys and scavenger hunts to entertain its visitors. There were batting carts, roller coasters, carousel ferris wheel, little airplanes, and shooting tents, fishing, divination and feeding, the most disputed among them being of Grams Bear, who distributed his apple pies cheerful and other treats for visitors.
- I wanted my pies to look as good as yours - Elizabeth said, looking at one of the sweets on the counter - It always come out white and unsightly.
- I usually pour a little butter on the topping, plus honey - Grams said with a smile - It always works, and it makes them sweeter.
- Have you ever made peanut pie with oatmeal? It's delicious...
- Never, just peanuts with jelly. But I'd rather make apple pies, or chocolate jelly, or even ice cream pizza.
- Can you make ice cream pizza? - Elizabeth asked in surprise.
- Of course yes. You first bake the uncoated pizza dough. Then place a layer of melted chocolate, and finally put the ice cream balls, completing with granulated chocolate, coconut shavings, strawberries or any other decoration that pleases you. So just serve!
At that moment, Fred approached, eating a large cotton candy.
- Those pies are really delicious - he commented, licking his lips - Can I get one more?
- Are not you being very greedy? - the old female bear looked at him with a worried expression - You arrived only half an hour ago, and you've been here three times. This will not do you good...
- Actually, it was four times - Frank's secretary corrected.
- For God's sake, Fred! - Elizabeth exclaimed, her eyes widening - I know you eat like an ostrich, but you're already exaggerating!
- That's true, you've been to all the food stalls at the Fair - agreed Grams Bear, before handing another pie to the man - Here's pie, but this is the last, you know?
Fred just laughed and rolled his eyes, before picking up the candy without chewing right and moving away toward the peanuts and apples' love stall, leaving Flower and Elizabeth laughing to themselves in the face of such gluttony.
Meanwhile Frank, Champ, Bright Heart and Confidence were in the target shooting tent, which was being tended by Secret Bear. The fox was the first to throw his three darts at the target, but lost two chances and hit only once in the center and received a big lollipop as a prize.
- Do not be sad - said the raccoon - At least you tried...
- I'm not sad, I just wanted to hit all the darts - fennec replied with a smile - Why do not you try Bright Heart?
Silently the raccoon took three darts and threw them one at a time, hitting the edges of the target without adding a large score. Even so, Secret Bear handed him a toy fishing rod as prize.
- I think Secret Bear is making fun of us when it comes to handing out the prizes - Confidence said with a puzzled look at the silent bear - What Bright Heart will do with a fishing rod, if he's not even a fisherman?
- Do not worry, I'll invent some use for it - the inventor replied with a smile - Even if it's stealing your lollipop...
And saying this, he turned and tried to snag the lollipop from fennec's hand, and she quickly dodged with a laugh. At that moment Champ took his three darts and launched himself once in the direction of the target, managing to hit him right in the center, which made the sportsman vibrate with joy.
- Wow, right on target! - exclaimed the raccoon, gaping - You're good at it.
- Best of all, sports fan - said Champ, full of himself - There's no one better than me in target shooting. And what's my prize, Secret?
With a malicious expression, the secret bear handed the athlete friend a small medal and a gymnastic outfit, which were the top prizes. Champ quickly put the medal around his neck and proudly displayed it to his friends, unaware that Frank was looking at him with amused, silent expression.
- You're really good at target - the old man said calmly - But can I try, too?
- Of course, although I find it difficult that you can match the score I did, since I trained a lot to be unbeatable...
All that arrogant and proud speech of Champ fell to the ground when Frank took his three darts and threw them all at once, reaching him also in the center and scoring the same amount of points of the sportsman, who was paralyzed from surprise.
- Nothing that a little training and quick reflexes do not solve - Frank said maliciously, smiling and looking at Champ - What did you say?
The bear lowered his head with a look embarrassed, while Secret Bear handed the old man a small medal and a paper calendar, which the businessman carefully tucked into his coat pockets as memories of that moment. That's when an agglomeration of children attracted everyone's attention.
- But what's going on there? - Champ asked, before running toward Hector, who was also with the other children gathered - Hey! What is this, sports fan? Are you playing anything?
- No, that man brought a little toy train and is letting the kids play with him - replied the boy, pointing to a small train model and an elderly gentleman, who helped the children control the speed and direction of the little trains.
As a good railroad lover and knowing the charm most children felt about trains, Ralph had brought several items from his miniature collection and, with the help of Tenderheart, André and Jason, had set up a small model so that the children could play somewhat with the supervision of adults. And it was not just children who were enchanted with that toy, but the bears and cousins themselves also had fun playing as the machinists and railroaders, especially Happy Birthday Bear, Funshine and Playful Heart.
- I think that from now on you will be our special guests for the next Annual Caring Fair - said the party bear, as he looked for the umpteenth time at the electric train -The children are enjoying it very much...
- Just the kids? - the playful female bear asked, smiling - Or will you tell me you do not like it too?
- Okay, I'm as much as Playful Heart and you.
- Chouu-chouu, I'm the driver of the fastest train in the world - the monkey shouted happily as the train flew along the rails.
- É melhor ele reduzir um pouco, ou vai acabar quebrando o modelo de Ralph (Is better cut back a little, or he'll break Ralph's model) - Andre said in Portuguese with a worried look - Diga isso para ele, Amigo Bear (Tell him that, Amigo Bear).
- Daí que ele irá correr mais ainda (Then he's going to run more) - said the polyglot bear, smiling - Playful Heart gosta de viver perigosamente (Playful Heart likes to live dangerously).
- Mas eu trabalho na melhor ferrovia do mundo e sei quando alguém está exagerando na velocidade do trem. Portanto é melhor ele diminuir um pouco (But I work on the best railroad in the world and I know when someone is exaggerating on the speed of the train. Therefore, it is better for him to slow down a little).
- Você trabalha na Paulista (Do you work at Paulista)? - Frank asked in Portuguese curiously as he heard the conversation between the bear and the human.
- Sim, eu sou chefe da estação Batovi, e... (Yes, I am chief of the Batovi station, and...) - the railroader began, before he opened his eyes and recognized his boss - Mr. Frank Heartom?
- Frank? What are you doing here? - said an even more surprised voice behind the old man, who turned around and came face to face with someone very familiar.
- Jason? - the businessman asked open-mouthed - I ask you what you are doing here! You mean you came to the Fair without letting me know?
- My first intention was to talk to Care Bear Family and then talk to you, but... So that's why you telegraphed me canceling my mission.
- What mission? - asked Happy Birthday Bear looking from one human to the other - Do you two know each other?
- Jason is my employee, and he was investigating an alleged appearance of Care Bear Family in Brazil - explained the old businessman, looking back at the young man - So you were not going to invite me to attend the Fair? You really are very bad. And who is that sir?
- Ralph Millows, he is a railroad modeler of Batovi and friend of André and Carlos. It was they who were being helped by the Care Bear Family, and as a thank you Ralph brought some of his models for the children to play at the Fair today.
- I think his toy is more successful than our toys - Confidence said with a giggle - Just look at the cheerful faces of the children to see how happy they are.
- I do not remember you on my previous visit - Jason said to the fox thoughtfully -What's your name?
- Confidence Heart Fennec. I came to live in Care-a-Lot a few years ago, but I've heard of you. Nice to meet you, Jason.
As Confidence and Jason introduced each other, Hector and Carlos were already chatting happily, waiting in turn to control the toy railroad.
- You mean you live in Santa Gertrudes? - Carlos asked Hector - So we're practically neighbors, because I live in Batovi...
- I've heard of this place - Hector said with a smile - You want to be my friend, Carlos?
- Of course, if you want to be my friend too!
At that moment, Tenderheart slowly approached the two and placed his hands on the boys' shoulders.
- Well, I see you two have become friends - said the bear with a big smile - That's the spirit of the Annual Caring Fair, where everyone can make friends and have fun.
- That's true, Tenderheart - Carlos agreed cheerfully - Now all it takes is Playful Heart to let the others play with the little train to have fun too...
The boy did not even finish saying these words when the little train jumped off the rails and fell to the ground, smashing into a thousand pieces. Ralph turned white as he saw this, rushing to catch the shards assessing the damage, while the monkey cringed with a frightened and embarrassed expression, mainly because he had already been warned to slow down the toy.
- SS-Sorry, Mr. Ralph, I did not mean to... - he stammered, his head low, almost beginning to cry, sad as he had seldom been in his life.
Everyone waited for Ralph's reaction, his eyes filled with tears and his lips began to tremble as he held the miniature wagon in his hands, demonstrating that to him this was not just a toy but a valuable piece. However, the old man slowly opened a smile and turned to Playful.
- It's all right, I know you did not do it on purpose - said the modeler calmly - Besides, nothing but glue and great patience to solve a problem.
- That's the spirit, sports fans! - Champ said cheerfully, making a positive signal to Ralph and Playful Heart - Caring, understanding and an apology are always the best players we can have on our side.
- Champ is right, you two acted in an exemplary manner - Tenderheart said amiably - For a moment I thought Ralph was going to be angry, but he controlled himself very well, which proves he's ready for his mission. And as for Playful Heart, he acted very well in apologizing, something he almost never does.
- Hey! It's one thing to make a joke with one friend, and another is to accidentally break an object - said the monkey with a small smile - It may not seem like it, but I know when I do the wrong thing or not.
- And we'll pretend we believe - Confidence said with a giggle - How about we go see the Songfellow Strum show? It's almost time...
- And who is this person that you both talk about? - Frank asked curiously - I'd like to meet him...
- Come with me, I'll introduce you to him, Frank - said the sportsman, walking with the old man to the Care-a-Lot theater to meet the singer.
*****
The Songfellow Strum show was the most anticipated moment by all the bears and visitors at Caring Fairs, as it was a magical moment that made everyone come together to sing. It was more than a music show, it was actually almost a show of magic and variety, as Songfellow had several tricks to interact with the audience in various ways.
The Care Bear Family had never known the story of that human, one of the few adults who had visited the Kingdom of Caring until then. One day he had appeared in Care-a-Lot, with his magic cloud train, singing his songs and delighting the bears. Since then, he has become an idol for all of them, including Shreeky, who called herself Songfellow's No. 1 fan. And his charisma might have been responsible for all this success. Friendly, playful and amusing, that human, with a red beard and broad gaze, wearing a cowboy hat and with his electric guitar knew how to attract attention and arouse people's good feelings. And that day would be no different.
The audience was already full, as the children were curious, the bears and cousins euphoric and the adults wanting to know more about that unknown figure. While most were already waiting on stage, Champ led Frank backstage where Songfellow was. Knocking on the musician's dressing room door, the bear heard an "in".
- Do I bother you, Mr. Songfellow? - asked the sportsman with a smile.
- I have to get on the stage in five minutes, but I can have a little chat - the artist said as he finished packing - So how do I look?
That was when the musician and the old businessman stared at each other stupefying, remaining silent for a few seconds.
- Uncle Frank? - said the musician, mouth open - What are you doing here?
- Warren? I ask you what you are doing here! - said the businessman with an expression of discontent - I have the slight impression that all my friends already knew Care Bear Family and would come to this Fair without inviting me!
- Uncle? Warren? How so? - Champ repeated trying to understand what happened - You mean you two are relatives?
- Warren is my nephew, Trevor's son - Frank said more calmly - We have not seen each other since my brother's funeral. Damn, Warren, I've been looking for Care Bear Family for all those years, and you, even knowing the story, kept hiding this little secret!
- I'm sorry Uncle Frank, but I could not tell you the truth - said the nephew, whose face was as red as his beard - Dad made me swear solemnly that I would never tell him anything...
- You mean Trevor too... Oh, my God, I can't believe my own family did this to me! Because?
- II-I'm sorry for that, I know you're disappointed with me and your own brother, but he said it was the best for everyone... Also, if he hid a secret from you, the reciprocal is true.
Frank gave a deep sigh, still feeling betrayed, but could not help but agree with Warren, for he always dodged Trevor's curiosity to know what had happened between Heavenly, Edward, and him on that fateful day in San Martin.
- Okay, the past is gone and nothing else can be done to change it - said the old businessman, before opening a small smile - And how did Trevor locate Care Bear Family? How did you get here?
- I never knew how he tracked them down, but it was about four years before he died, when I had that country band. One day he gave me this guitar as a gift and showed me the cloud train, telling me how to get here and realize my dream of being a great artist, as long as I never told you anything. Since then I am a wandering singer who does charity shows all over the world.
- Shows that are always crowded like today, is not it, Mr. Songfellow? - asked Champ, laughing - Who would say that the best illusionist musician there is Frank's nephew. I still can’t believe it.
- And I lot less - the old man confessed with a deep sigh before smiling at Warren - You mean you're the new family singer?
- Only when you're not around, Uncle Frank - the singer said cheerfully - Why do not you do a duet with me at the end of the show? Dad always told me that you sang to bears and cousins, and today would be the occasion to return to that tradition.
- Okay, count me in for a duet. Now go there and show what you know how to do, Songfellow Strum.
Warren smiled and finished packing for the show, as the enthusiastic audience already called his name. Among them were Noble Heart, True Heart, Grumpy, Shimmers, Wish Bear, Aqua Bear, Lonesomeheart, Redemptionheart, Sky-Heart and Longbow Wolf, seated in the second row of seats. Just behind were Emilio, James and Elizabeth, sitting next to Confidence, Hector and Carlos. Behind them were Cheer, Bright Heart and Treat Heart, and Champ quickly gone to sit with them while Frank took a seat beside his secretary.
That's when Fred came in carrying a pile of candy and ice cream, and sat down next to Emilio.
- Oh my God! Do you want to beat the world's highest glutton record? - said the pilot - There are four cheese pastry, two slices of blackberry pie, one of apples, two apples of love, ice cream, roulade... Are you going to share all this with me?
- Of course not, go buy yours - Fred said quickly - And if that bothers you, go sit somewhere else.
- The tummy ache will be yours, and I'm very well accommodated here.
- You two want to stop it? - Elizabeth asked with a frowning brow - Even the children are behaving better than you two...
- That is our problem - said the secretary, with a mischievous look on the old woman - And you should have known that Emilio and I always fought when we were together...
- Now enough, Mr. Fred! - demanded Noble Heart Horse, getting up - Everyone here wants to see the Songfellow Strum show, and not listen to their discussions with their friend Emilio. So be quiet and watch the musical without disturbing!
Fred and Emilio looked at each other in silence, rolling their eyes, as Noble returned to his place.
- Now I do like your attitude - the horse heard his wife say softly in his ears, looking at him kindly as she had not done for a long time, which made him very happy.
A few moments later, the curtains of the stage opened and Songfellow Strum appeared, being cheered by the public.
- How are you all? - the singer asked excitedly in the microphone, receiving a great shout from the audience - I am very happy to be here again with my old friends bears and cousins, and with so many children who will be my new friends. After all, this is the intention of this party...
An annoying noise began to be heard. It was the touch of a cell phone, and Fred quickly took the phone from his waist and answered.
- Hello, I'll call you back - the secretary said, when everyone looked at him.
- Turn off the phone, young man, please - the singer said with a gentle smile - Well, as I said the main intention of this party is we can make new friends and find others, and there's nothing better than singing to celebrate another year together. But I do not want to sing alone, I want to have someone to accompany me, someone like...
Again the same irritating sound as before, and Fred picked up the cell phone again, interrupting the show.
- Hello, I'll call you back.
- Did not you learn how to turn off the phone, Fred? - Elizabeth asked with a wry smile.
- I know you want to sing too, young man, but I was not going to call you now - the musician said in playfully tone, making everyone laugh - Actually, I want someone special, someone who has never been with me on stage before, and I feel who still does not have many friends, despite having already lived sometime in the Kingdom of Caring. Want to come and sing with me, Confidence Heart?
The fox's eyes widened in surprise as they all stared at her and applauded her. Embarrassed, she did not know what to do as she got up and walked to the stage, still under the applause of those present and fulminating looks of Cheer Bear and True Heart. However, this did not intimidate the fennec, who soon stood beside the musician.
- Here she is, my new friend Confidence Heart Fennec, who recently arrived in the Kingdom of Caring - Songfellow said into the microphone - And this is really the first time we'll be together on stage to sing.
- But I do not know how to sing the seven musical notes - the fighter replied with a funny look - Much less any song you want to do double with me.
- Oh, you do not know how to sing? - asked the musician, taking another microphone and handing it to Confidence - Then I'll solve your problem.
And flicking his finger, the stage lights focused on Confidence, and the rest of the theater fell into a thick darkness. Somehow that change of lighting made the fennec feel something different in her chest, something she had never felt before. It was as if that were reacting with his own elemental magic, even though it was just a trick used by Warren to relax people and make them take their best from the heart.
- You do not have to be the best singer to be my friend or expose what you feel - said the musician, smiling and kneeling before the fox to look at her better - And like all friends who really care for each other, everyone here they will hear your music. Just imagine and sing. Sing! We will sing with you, even if it is through a colorful world tour.
And to further encourage the young woman, he began to play on his electric guitar a light song, with some quick and cheerful chords, which were gradually encouraging Confidence to share his feelings.

(Songfellow) In a sheet of paper
I draw a yellow sun
And with five or six lines
It is easy to draw a castle

(Confidence) I trace the pencil around
My hand and I get a glove
And if I make it rains with
Two dashes I get an umbrella

(Songfellow) If a little drop of paint drips on
A small blue portion of the sheet
In a second I imagine a beautiful
Seagull flying in the sky…

(Both) She keeps flying, contouring
The immense north-south line
I go along with her travelling
To Hawaii, Beijing and Istanbul
I paint a sailboat, white, sailing
There's so much sky
And sea in a blue kiss...

A beautiful pink and red airplane
Emerges among the clouds
Coloring the surroundings
With its flashing lights

You wonder and it is flying
Away, serene and beautiful
And if we wish, it will land...

(Confidence) In any sheet of paper
I draw a departing ship
With a few good friends in it,
Drinking and celebrating life…

(Songfellow) From one America to
Another I can go in a second
A spin a simple pair of compasses
And with a circle I draw the world…

(Confidence) A boy walks, and by
Walking he reaches a wall
And over this wall, not too far
From it, the future is waiting for us…

(Both) And the future is a spaceship
Which we try to drive
There is no time, nor mercy,
Nor right time to arrive
Without asking permission
It changes our lives
And then it invites
Us to laugh or cry...

On this road, it's not our job
To know or see what will come
Nobody knows for sure
Where it will take us
We are all crossing a
Beautiful footbridge
Painted in a watercolor which
Someday will finally discolor...

In a sheet of paper
I draw a yellow sun
(Which will discolor)
And with five or six lines
It is easy to draw a castle
(Which will discolor)
A spin a simple pair of compasses
And with a circle I draw the world
(Which will discolor...)

Maybe the fox would one day be able to explain what she felt at that moment and how she had managed to sing something so beautiful. By the end of the song she was truly ecstatic, and she smiled endlessly feeling genuinely welcomed by the magic and love surrounding the Care Bear Family.
- That cool! - she exclaimed into the microphone as everyone applauded the music she and Songfellow sang.
- Who said you could not sing? - asked the musician, smiling - The music is inside our hearts, and it reveals itself in the right moment. Tuneless, hoarse, sharp, no matter how, music is the way we unload tensions and express feelings. A round of applause for then to Confidence!
With a big smile, the fox bowed to everyone as she was applauded and returned to her seat next to Frank. When everyone settled down again, Songfellow Strum was able to continue the show.
- So now we've seen what a great friendship can do. But there are other types of friendships, such as between two brothers or between a couples in love who...
For the third time, the sound of Fred's cell phone hampered the show, and everyone gave an impatient exclamation.
- Hello, I'll call... Hey! - complained Frank's assistant, when his cell phone was ripped out of his hands by Emilio.
- Enough, my friend - said the Brazilian pilot emphatically, turning off the device and putting it in his pants pocket - I will return the cell phone to you when the show ends.
- But that's not fair! And you still removed the battery! Do you know how long it will take for me to configure language, time and...
- Shut up, Fred! - shouted Frank, Elizabeth, James, and Jason, causing him to immediately shut up, huffing with rage and crossing his arms.
Warren tried to hold his laughter in front of that comic scene, and it took a few seconds for him to continue the show.
- As I said before, there are various forms of friendship, including the one involving two people who love each other. If we are all here today it is because one day two people loved each other and wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. But sometimes the shyness or the fear causes one of them to be silent before the other, not revealing totally their feelings. Let's see if this is the case for someone here.
And saying this, Songfellow Strum threw his hat into the air, and in a magic pass the object began to fly among the spectators as if it were a bird, until landing between Sky-Heart Bear and Longbow Wolf, who looked at each other in surprise before back to the musician.
- You see, a young couple of friends who have not yet fully revealed their feelings for each other - the human said, making the bear and female wolf blush with embarrassment - Could you two bring my hat here?
Silently the two held Songfellow's hat and walked to the stage, looking shyly at each other and at all the other spectators.
- And here are Sky-Heart Bear and your great friend Longbow Wolf - Warren said with a small smile - Thank you so much for bringing my hat back, he means a lot to me. Maybe as much as you represent to each other. But do you two really know how important are to each other?
- Well... Maybe - Sky-Heart said with a small, shy smile, glancing sideways at Longbow.
- Yes, perhaps - she agreed cheerfully - Do you have any suggestions for us, Mr. Songfellow?
Quickly the human handed a microphone to the wolf and another to the bear, moving away in silence and leaving the two of them alone on the stage, face to face. But for both it was as if nothing else existed now, just each other.

(Longbow) I don't have to say
A word to you
You seem to know
Whatever mood
I'm going through
Feels as though
I've known you forever

(Sky-Heart) You
Can look into my eyes and see
The way I feel
And how
The world is treating me
Maybe I have known you forever

(Both) Amigos para siempre
Means you'll always be my friend
Amics per sempre
Means a love that cannot end
Friends for life
Not just a summer or a spring
Amigos para siempre

I feel you near me
Even when we are apart
Just knowing you are in this world
Can warm my heart
Friends for life
Not just a summer or a spring
Amigos para siempre

(Longbow) We share memories
I won't forget
And we'll share more,
My friend,
We haven't started yet
Something happens
When we're together

(Sky-Heart) When
I look at you
I wonder why
There has to come
A time when we must say goodbye
I'm alive when we are together

(Both) Amigos para siempre
Means you'll always be my friend
Amics per sempre
Means a love that cannot end
Friends for life
Not just a summer or a spring
Amigos para siempre

I feel you near me
Even when we are apart
Just knowing you are in this world
Can warm my heart
Friends for life
Not just a summer or a spring
Amigos para siempre

(Sky-Heart) When
I look at you
I wonder why
There has to come
A time when we must say goodbye

I'm alive when we are together

(Both) Amigos para siempre
Means you'll always be my friend
Amics per sempre
Means a love that cannot end
Friends for life
Not just a summer or a spring
Amigos para siempre

I feel you near me
Even when we are apart
Just knowing you are in this world
Can warm my heart
Friends for life
Not just a summer or a spring
Amigos para siempre

Amigos para siempre
Means you'll always be my friend
Amics per sempre
Means a love that cannot end
Friends for life
Not just a summer or a spring
Amigos para siempre
Amigos para siempre

And at the end of the presentation, they both smiled kindly and clasped hands, embracing each other with hearts throbbing with joy as they were cheered by the audience. Sky-Heart had finally managed to tell what she felt for Longbow, and she responded to that feeling by accepting him as her friend and lifelong partner. But the Songfellow Strum show was just beginning, and certainly many other emotions would still occur for many other viewers...
*****
Lots of music, lots of fun, lots of tricks. This was the Songfellow Strum show, or Warren Heartom for the intimates. If Frank had once animated the parties at San Martin, his nephew had certainly inherited his qualities in this matter. He was kind, caring, considerate, an excellent composer, and knew full well how to do magic tricks, which he certainly learned during the years he had attended a youth circus.
- Thank you guys! - he said as he sang another song,, raising his electric guitar and smiling at everyone - You do not know how happy I am to be here and to be able to perform this show for you all. But unfortunately it is coming to an end, and I wanted to close it in style, and having as a partner someone very special to me. Could you come to the stage, Uncle Frank?
All eyes turned to the old businessman, and for bears and cousins, especially Noble Heart, True Heart and Flower Bear, it was a huge surprise to discover that Frank was the uncle of the Songfellow Strum. Quickly the business man stood up and walked toward the stage, being applauded by everyone as Warren handed him the microphone.
For a few seconds the old man was silent, looking at the audience and feeling his eyes fill with tears. His hands trembled with emotion, it was like the old days when he closed the festivals in San Martin.
- C'mon Uncle Frank, show that you can still sing like you used to! - said the musician excitedly, seeming to guess the thoughts of the uncle - I bet everyone is curious to hear him sing again.
- The difficult thing is not to let go of the tears... - Frank muttered into the microphone in a playful tone, before taking a deep breath - Last time I sang a song at a party, things did not end the way I imagined, but today... - again he stopped and began to cry, being quickly applauded by everyone in recognition of his effort to sing even extremely thrilled, before regaining himself - Today I hope that everything ends as I wanted 50 years ago.
Taking another deep breath, the old man finally felt ready to sing, and after muttering a few words in Warren's ear, the musician started playing his electric guitar opening the song for his uncle.

(Songfellow) Step up and take my hand
One touch,
And we'll be friends... forever

(Frank) Hello, old friend
It's good to be with you.
Time is standing still
Our love
Shines true and bright
It always will

My wishing star
Has guided all you do
My empty heart you fill
We still feel forever young

Looking back
We're just the same
As we were
When we began

This love will keep protecting us
Reach for me, and I'll take your hand

When we're apart
Just close your eyes
And you'll see me waiting there

You can always count on me
I will always care

My special friend
Inside my heart you'll stay
You'll be with me until
The sun
Shines through the night
It never will

My little star
You'll never fade away
The hands of time are still
And we'll be forever young

Step up and take my hand
One touch,
And we'll be friends... forever

(Children) Hello, old friend,
It's good to see you too
Time is standing still
Oh, we'll be
Forever young.

(Adults) Hello to you
It's nice to see your smile
Step up and take my hand
One touch,
And we'll be friends... forever

(All) Hello, old friend,
It's good to see you too
Time is standing still
Oh, we'll be
Forever young

Hello to you
It's nice to see your smile
Step up and take my hand
One touch,
And we'll be friends... forever

(Frank) Hello, old friend,
It's good to see you too
Time is standing still
Oh, we'll be
Forever young…

And filled with emotion, everyone sang along with Frank, even True Heart as she remembered the old days of the festivals in San Martin. For a second they all forgot the sorrows and bitterness, and sang as one voice, and in the end everyone applauded closing the show as great friends and companions, spreading the spirit of the Annual Caring Fair.
