It's A Wonderful Life, Birch Draper: End Credits
Heha Yuwaw (Silent Night in Isalwut [Islandish])
On this date, December 24th, exactly two hundred years ago, 1818, the most famous Christmas Carol in the entire world was first performed. The lyrics were written two years prior to that, by Joseph Mohr, who brought it to Franz Xavier Gruber to have him write music and a guitar part for it, for the Christmas Eve service, as the organ had suffered some damage recently.

What resulted was a simple melody and carol beloved the world over.

I will be commemorating the bicentennial by issuing three different versions of the carol today. This first, is primarily a counter melody composed by Daniel Kantor in 1981.

Backing track obtained from YouTube.
