The Lovecraftian vibes are thoroughly strong in this piece... quite a remarkable illustration! Freaking live for this kind of epic imagery...and the painted style works exceedingly well.

thank you very much, not sure what lovecraftian means even after looking it up. . .  but thank you either way :)

He's referring to the author from the 1920's to 1930's called H.P. Lovecraft.  Illustrations that were done of his works are what he's referencing.

summed it up rather elegantly already, but Lovecraftian works are direct illustrations of stories written by a man who many consider to be the pioneering originator of the horror story genre as we know it today. H. P. Lovecraft has inspired a huge pantheon of budding horror writers. From Ambrose Bierce to Stephen King, Lovecraft gave people in the twenties and thirties plenty of reason to be very afraid of the written word, especially the Cthulhu mythos, which deals with eternal God-like relics rising forth from a hellish otherworldly dimensional portal buried deep in the Atlantic. Their aim is basically to decimate all of existence as we know it, to claim and abuse control of eeeeeverything...
Gnarly stuff, especially in its day and age! People didn't write stuff like that back then - not regularly, anyways.
Anywho!!
Check out some of these illustrations to get an idea of what I mean - why I initially considered your beautiful piece of artwork to be a subtle bit of Lovecraftian lore...either way though, epic is as epic does. :D I really did your massive giraffe diety. :3
