The authors note oh boy, bit of a bummer but it's understandable

I have a forum dedicated to how much people hate me :/
6 months, 2 weeks ago
That is the only way to live, in high school their was a yearbook page dedicated to hating me, my college a club was started, my students hate me. You eventually learn to love it and now it is pretty much a compliment to me to know I invoked hatred from someone for just being present.
6 months, 1 week ago
Not much consolation but I love you and your art! All of it!

Honestly, you can't do anything these days without someone taking "offense" and going on a moral crusade  :(

Sounds like it would have been neat
6 months, 2 weeks ago
agreed. there's always gonna be someone who's gonna ruin it for the rest of us.

The stuff in that description honestly is exactly the sort of thing we have to deal with as trans people, and it's horrible, dangerous even, especially when people in this community won't let these things be discussed and end up perpetuating that danger.
Even worse that people can't even talk about these things without someone flinging shit and preventing any kind of honest engagement on the topic.

I certainly don't blame you for not wanting to deal with that.

I saw some of the "conversation" on twitter that lead to this. It was appalling. Very much a.... I'm actually not sure what the specific term for it is, but they were doing the whole "I know better than you" (despite TB having a trans person in their life), "stay in your lane", etc and all that kind of shit. It's on their twitter, presuming the conversation wasn't deleted.
6 months, 1 week ago
Gatekeeping the conversation could do just as much harm as simply being a dickhead on purpose.
It's sad and immensely disappointing to see that people aren't allowed to have a conversation about trans issues unless you are trans. On one hand people can be exceedingly ignorant and hurtful, people do actively work to hurt us, but people who are trying to express the reality of trans existence, even without being so themselves, who either clearly want to, or already do understand, should not be pushed away.

If we never talk about these things, never express, educate, or welcome genuine people, then no-one can learn, and no-one can do better, and no-one can stop people hurting (attacking, raping, killing) us.
We're gunna keep getting hurt, the average suicide rate will remain near to 50% in the US (46% last I checked), and nothing will get better.

I never relised Tessa was trans … I thought tess was just a tomboy.

I never picked up on the trans thing in the comic … I just though tess was a bit of a bitch as times but I thought that was part of the plot.

to bo honest … I would have included tess because its your comic, your story, I don't care about the whole trans issue … I just care about the story, now with Tessa's parts being omitted I feel i'm not getting the full story now :(

also can I just say this ….. fuck the haters.

me i'm a straight guy trans issues don't affect me I just let people live there lives the way they want …. its that persons choice.

I wasn't really invested or that interested in the story, mostly liked the way you drew your characters and did your comic but I really hate that you can't do it because stupid, ignorant individuals feel you're not telling "THEIR" story the way "THEY" want or they don't think it should be told at all.
I wish you best of luck in the future and hope you keep publishing because if we let "THEM" dictate what we as creators do or don't do this world will become an even MORE ugly and cold place that it's getting to be.
6 months, 2 weeks ago
I don't blame you.

6 months, 2 weeks ago
Sorry to hear about the chapter ,but I hope you are doing alright. That sounded like it could have been a very uncomfortable ordeal.
6 months, 2 weeks ago
I hate it when people bring nothing but hate... I know that's a bit of an oxymoron but you get what I mean. XP
6 months, 2 weeks ago
Man.. That's a shame. I dig seeing trans stuff discussed and addressed in comics. I'm really sorry people made such a fuss.
6 months, 2 weeks ago
Nowadays, you just can't discuss and bring up any topic without getting hate from overly sensitive people.
I get, some stuff might be offensive, but if people serf through the Net and look up the stuff that offend them, just to hate on it and people who bring it up, then they have more issues than they think.
Wish you all the best and don't let the ill minded people ruin your story or your motivation!
We, your watchers, love your art and stories, no matter what. :3

I'm sorry you had to deal with that >:

Some people just can't help but be assholes it seems... It's a comic, it can cover serious things. Don't like said things, find another gorram comic. Might want to go with a 'Warning. Warning. Block.' system for people that insist on bringing up unwanted drama, if you're not already using a system similar to that.

Assholes aside(mostly), seriously Tessa, what the fuck!? Sari would absolutely be justified in reacting negatively to that. Tessa not only brought a suit made of a substance they are seriously allergic to, it's one that has a demonstrable history of lethal levels of aggression, as evidenced by the very wounds they were just treating. To call that 'poor judgement' is a vast understatement.
6 months, 2 weeks ago
Sorry to hear people were giving you a hard time.
6 months, 2 weeks ago
Damn, sorry to hear about all that drama :( As much as it sucks, distancing yourself from it is probably the best move if you don't want to deal with it.
6 months, 2 weeks ago
I will be honest and say that as a guy I did not really know Tessa was a woman for a good while. I think i found it out once the girlfriend came into the story. I think your decision to not include the chapter was a good idea. I can see a lot of hate just from that chapter alone coming at you. Good to avoid such stress. Keep it up I am enjoying this comic. I am wondering the relationship between Elsa and her suit will go moving forward due to the Chapter cover.
6 months, 2 weeks ago
It's quite sad to make yourself disgusted to draw your own stories - and deprive us, the majority of your watchers who appreciate it silently, of potential great plots, because of just a few retards, when you've got a"block" button that prevents those from making dramas!!! You can even block comments on your pages, and prevent personal messages...
6 months, 2 weeks ago
it isn't just one incident. i have had trouble with these kind of transpeople before (those who chimp out instead of acting like normal people... it does not make transpeople look good at all) and i didnt want to deal with it anymore. its hundreds of peopel like this, not just a few.. any time i touch gender they just start shitting everywhere regardless of what the situation is or whether or not there's misunderstandings and so im not touching it anymore.
6 months, 2 weeks ago
I guess these don't feel accepted by society and get super touchy each time they see something about their condition, even if it's positive... I've heard about similar problems here and there, not only with furries but with videogames too, this is typical of a transition period when something very new and "out of the norm" appears, before it becomes fully integrated. It's just a real, real shame that some mentally disturbed persons prevent you from creating stories, and it's a shame for THEM too because it is by speaking about them that someday, they will have their natural place, not by wiping them under the bed with the dustbunnies. Can't decide if I am full of anger or pity.
I really wish you will get your peace and free room to express yourself soon.

People whine about not getting representation... then they whine when they do.

All people do is whine and shit on everything.

Amazed at your art.

Sorry you have to self-censor.

(Relieved there will be less shark suit. That thing creeped me out.)
6 months, 2 weeks ago
I'm usually the type to just lurk and enjoy the arts for what they are and not comment ...... stuff like this that comes up (pretty much everywhere sooner or later, in all sorts of media I enjoy) makes me question if I should be poking into things to speak up more for the 'just let the artists make art' attitude.
6 months, 2 weeks ago
Yeah, I can see how that can be a minefield best avoided. That's likely to hit close to home with a lot of folks.

Sorry it's been a stressful situation for you.
6 months, 2 weeks ago
I'm so sorry you're dealing with shitty people.  I'm just along for the ride and enjoying the sympathetic treatment you're giving your characters.  :/

I’m so sorry you had to deal with that. At the end of the day, you enjoying this is more important than any of our opinions. If this is what you need to do, then I’ll support you for what that’s worth.

ah, good to know mature people still exist on the internet and in this world *le sigh eye roll*
6 months, 1 week ago
I'm bummed that people got like this, that chapter sounds really cool, and I really liked reading over Tessa's struggles. It was real, and interesting... This is a real shame.
6 months, 1 week ago
I'm sorry you've had to deal with such a backlash to your writing. And I don't blame you for wanting to avoid further conflict. I'm sure there's nobody more torn up about it than yourself, having to make that choice.
6 months, 1 week ago
While the politicization of identity has caused "trans" to leave a bad taste in my mouth, you should create whatever sort of art you want. The people who appreciate what you make will stay, the people who are but flies in your soup will eventually leave.

Heh, my favorite philosopher does what he calls "flame clearing", where he says things in a deliberately incendiary way, to repel people who aren't smart enough to see what he's actually saying.

Or, as another once said: "here's a fact that every public figure should come to terms with: Morons love you. More morons than you are comfortable with. And the larger your fan base, the higher proportion of them are morons."
6 months, 1 week ago
Mayhap save it for another time. You've certainly got an audience that wants to see the content. But if it's  bringing too much hassle and stress into your life then I don't blame you for holding it back. In any case, I and many, many other are still happy to see your work one way or another. :)
6 months, 1 week ago
I understand not wanting to draw out those pages due to the drama. I would probably have done it anyway and put a note to keep discussion civil. If they didn't, I'd ban those people from my page and my work. If you can't discuss things rationally, you don't get to discuss them at all. I understand people have emotional baggage, or are very invested in a topic, but humans have reason specifically so we can overcome and control our emotions. Tess and the others are characters in a story. They're reacting how their personalities would cause them to do so. Why does it have to devolve into a flame war?
6 months, 1 week ago
I just found out the comic today and read it full to its new uploads today. It saddens me to know part of the story will be missing and while yes, Ella and Zeich are the main focus, I would've still loved to see how Tessa's situation played out.

Another time in another life, perhaps :<

I just read the author's note and am sorry that you as the author of this amazing comic had to deal with such stupidity from haters. Shame on them. I'm saddened by the fact you were put in such a position and wish you would continue with tessa as a main character but can understand completely as to why you won't anymore.
6 months, 1 week ago
Sorry allow me to clarify. I find tessa as big a part of the story as Ella
6 months, 1 week ago
I'm sorry you had to deal with that.
5 months, 4 weeks ago
thats sad  >> now its deliberately gonna FEEL like there is a big chunk missing. cause where that particular part left off i was expecting this chapter. tessa is such a big part in ella's life and its only fair she gets a story... now that everytime she shows up theres gonna be this dissonance between tess n ella and tess and the reader like they're hiding stuff... woof... what a bummer.
4 months, 3 weeks ago
This is possibly one of the saddest things I've ever seen.

This is your art. I've only just begun reading this comic, but I absolutely adore these characters, your art style, and the story in general. Wherever the story goes...you're driving. I'm just along for the ride. I can get out and go my own way at any time, and if I'm offended by something then that's what I ought to do.

I'm so sorry that someone discouraged you from making your art what you wanted it to be. Art doesn't have to be PC; it can tell stories about horrible tragedies just as easily as happy endings. There is controversy in touching on those topics, but ultimately you're telling a story, not forcing anyone to do, act, think or believe any particular way. Art is art.

Thank you so much for sharing even just a synopsis of the intended storyline. I'm sure it wasn't easy to abandon it, and probably wasn't easy to post this either.

Seems to me that the majority of your readers are 100% on your side, though. I don't see any comments where anyone is happy that you had to deal with such a reaction, and everyone here seems to support you. Hopefully that helps a little :).
Woah, that note is a bummer. It's sad that you had to decide to just abandon the concept in your art for the sake of not having to deal with the critique of an irrational group, but perfectly understandable decision nonetheless.
