Journal entry one: The case of the ghost thief

It was a simple and boring day at thomas place. nothing been going on for awhile since he haven’t gotten a single case almost a week now. All we mostly did was sitting around and chat about the diffrent books we read, and he tells me some of the crazy adventure that he mention from his books. At most time as his assistant I mainly do simple task like organize his books shelf and trust me he have the biggest collection of books in his house, much bigger than any library ever held. Other times I go out and get a few things at the shops. After I came back from town I see Thomas was reading something in the paper, I wasn’t sure what it was about but I have to put some stuff away in the kitchen. Before I head for the kitchen, Thomas raise his head away from the newspaper and was start walking towards the front door. He told me to put the stuff down and follow him which I did. I follow him down the hallway until we finally reach our destination. When we reach the front door I was hoping that he gonna open the door but he haven’t yet. Thomas stare at the door just for a few moment until he told me to move on the side. I was confuse of why he ask me that but I did what he ask me. When I move on the side he has his front hooves on the door nob, and the strange thing about it that he counted to three. 1……2……..3 after that he open the door, something flew by and crash landed in the living room area. I try to see what it was that crash through the living room, but the place was cover in dust. I used my magic to clear the dust away and try to see who it was. The pony that crash landed was none other than Derpy Hooves. Derpy was a simple pegasi Mail Mare for Ponyville and she is ….. well a good Mail Pony when she have her good days. Thomas was able to help derpy to get back on her hooves. Derpy was happy for the and also was asking if the house she crash into was belong to Thomas. I told her the is belong to Thomas and I pointed at the stallion for her. Derpy look at Thomas and grab something out her  mail bag. It was a letter that she said it was address to him, Derpy also said that it was a express mail which it was meant to be deliver fast as possible and also explain why she was flying a little fast and crash landed. thomas was able to grab the letter from derpy with his teeth and escort her to the and thank her the same time. Thomas ask me to follow him back to his study so that we can see what the letter all about.

In his study I was still amazes of how talented he was. When he at his desk he used his wings to hold the letter and pick up a letter opener with his teeth and open the envelope by himself without my help. He started to read the letter and understand concept. I was about to ask him and he put the letter down and got out his chair and ran to get something. I started to follow him and start asking about the letter. Thomas was a little busy searching around his study room grabing searching glass a few test tube and a dew books of the strange mystery of myth. During gathering hup his thing he told me that someone write to him about something happend at there home. I ask him what was it. Then he stop and turn around and face me close his eyes and smile a ghost. At first my mind saying a ghost really but he didn’t care it was a new case to him. I couldn’t argue with him it the least we can do after sitting down doing nothing. Thomas ask me to carry the bag of few things on there trip. Before we left I was able to grabe the book and quil so I can write down some of the things of what happens.

After a long walk down to ponyville we haven’t stop since we left his home. I was starting to get tired after holding the bag for him. I want to ask thomas if we can stop for a moment but before I say anything I bump right into him and fell and drop the bag. I shake my head and try to see what happend but I see him stop and was looking around and see that he found the location he was looking. he see me on the ground and help me up, thomas told me that we found the place that we need to be. He point at the house for me to and then when looking at the house it was a average looking old house. I was hoping that it would be a nice place to look at but it was abandon and run down. my face disaponted on the location but I couldn’t say much since the address on the letter was here. I look around to see where Thomas went but her was already off with his bag by his wing.

When finally reaching the old house we look around to notice how strange the place is. I knew about this old house from reading one of Thomas book of imformation in his study. It was about a rich colt that once live in the center of town in Poyville but he leave by himself with no friends or family to company by him. When he died noone can’t buy his home and it was left there. Just thinking about that got me the goose bump. Trying to find Thomas so I could talk some more about the this but I can’t find him. it like he dissapear like a ghost himself, look around and when I see someone I tought it would be thomas. but when I say hi the pony poke his head out and look at me with a angry look. I got scared and scream a little of the surprise of the old pony. The pony have grey fur and lost most of his mane but have a cutiemark that look like feather duster. Thomas was around the corner of the house looking around and hear the noise that I was making. he was able to find me and also try to intraduce me with the old man. Thomas told me the old man name was indeed feather duster like his cutie mark and he explain that he the one that sent them the letter requesting to see feather duster. But he was surprise that Thomas was gona to have a helper with him and rest assure feather duster was as happy about it and yet I wonder why. Feather duster told Thomas and me about why he wont us here. He said in his letter is about the ghost inside the old house, and  also it said that the ghost was also been stealing item all over ponyvill for awhile. I was writing down some of thfe facts when the old man was talking while the fameous detective Thomas was listing to the old . Thomas ask feather duster what the ghost look like, feather duster try to think but the answer he said surprise us both. Feather duster said it was the ghost of the oringial owner of the house behind him. Thomas look at the house and was determine to crack this case. Thomas grab his bag with his teeth and bow to the old pony and start walking inside the house. I was about to follow him before I do that I ask feather duster of what was the owner name since most of his record of the old owner was destroy years ago and not that many ponies know his real name was. Feather duster said that the only name he gave was an R. Before he could say more a strange wind past by my face and made me blink and the old pony wasn’t there. I look to see whear he was but all of sudden outside was starting to get cold and i ran iside the house.

When I got inside the house the place look bigger in the inside than it is outside. I walk down the hall a little bit and search thomas again I check the living room area and of course thomas was able to set up a area were he could have his lab equpment on a table ready for use. I did notice on the table that he dad a ghost locator device that he was plaonong to see if he can find ghost with it. When I was about to grab it I heard a voice to tell me not to touch it. I see who it was but before my hoof touch the device I hear a weird noise and I see some kind of net right under me and caught me by surprise. Thomas came close to and say sorry to about what happend to me. he was testing out one of his traps he was laying around the area in the house just in case if the ghost is not real he be able to capture the pony. I wasn’t you say in the good mood and want him to bring me down. He look around and loosing the ropes that bring me down to the floor. he help me up and dust off any dirt on me. I told Thomas I was fine and wondering what we have to do now. Thomas said that we have to look around the place to see if we can find any clue and or the stolen item. I ask Thomas that what if the stolen item are not inside. but knowing Thomas he always find a way to find the truth. He show me something in his hoof was a piece of clothing that he found on the floor while looking around the house. I look at the piece of clothing and ask him what so special about it. Thomas said that this piece of clothing is new and doesn’t belong around this house. He have a point the clothing look new and not as old as the house is but could be a clue. I grab my book and write down more about it. Thomas head something and turn around and try to see what it was. I was to busy writing the fact down and pay attention of what he doing, but when I was done he was gone again. I starting to feel like that this gonna be a long day. During my search around the house I felt like cold wind that coming around me that I never felt before. I shiver a lot and was hoping to find a blanket to keep me warm a little. Someone gave me a sheet of blanket and flatter for the blanket and wrap it around me. But I notice that another pony gave me a blanket and it can’t be Thomas because I haven’t seen him yet. I was afraid to even look to see who it was but I have no choice but to look. I turn my head and notice it was a ghost it was waving it arms around and screaming and saying get out of his house. My mind could be thinking it the original owner of the house Mr. R. But I didn’t care less and start running the other direction. I scream about trying to run away from the ghost but it keep on following me. I made a turn to the next hall and hid inside the broom closet. At first I thought the ghost was gone but it open the door and I ran off again. I was starting to get tired and was trap by a corner and the ghost was right there ready to do something. I wasn’t sure what to do but I said to myself I have magic I can fight against it. When i try to used my horn but for some reason I can’t used magic. Wasn’t I scared of the ghost or the ghost himself is making my magic not working. The ghost was getting closer by the second and I wasn’t sure what to do right now I close my eyes and hope someone pass by and help. Then all the sudden I heard some kind of vacuum noise that was right in front of me. I open my eyes and see it was Thomas that came to rescue me and with him is his trusty vacuum cleaner that he found in another closet. He aim the vacuum at the ghost but the ghost got scared of the vacuum and try to run off. but Thomas knew where the ghost was going and wait to listen to a similar sound. All of sudden the large noise of clank and a net capture something and knowing from Thomas face that he caught something good. Thomas came to me to see if I was alright. I got up and told him I was fine and knock him in the head for leaving me behind at the same time. He said he was sorry and bow down a dozen time for forgiveness. Thomas wave to me and want me to follow him to see what they caught. We walk around the corner of the hall and notice that we caught the ghost. I sure was happy that we caught him but for some reason that it was a little to easy to capture a ghost knowing that they can go threw wall and other things. Thomas explain that the ghost they were dealing wasn’t a real ghost. I wasn’t sure what he mean. So he explain that the piece of clothing he found was indeed did belong inside the but someone that came inside and left it there. Then the second reason is that when he was looking around that he notice that there was some hoof print around the house and the prints was fresh so that mean the ghost that we are facing wasn’t a real ghost at all. He was right with some of the things he said and I still like to know who the only in the ghost costume. Thomas brought down the ghost but make sure it was tie up and he was able to remove the mask and reveal the pony. The fake ghost was no other than the old pony feather duster that they first met before entering the house. I figure he would be the one behind all this but how did he do it. Thomas explain that he been using an amulet that he stole in a museum that was able for him to make all the item he stole not be notice by anyone that used magic to able to find them, which make your horn useless when you try to used it. Second he used the old legend on the house to keep ponies away from the place and hid the items he stole so he can move them somewhere safe away from town. Feather duster was a little mad and said the he would have got away with it to if was for you to detective. and with that Thomas and i high hoof for a job well done.

Outside the old house the royal guards came by and take feather duster to jail and bringing the stolen items to the rightful owners. One of the royal guards salute to Thomas and paid him bits for the job well done. Thomas salute to the guard and was on his way but the guard stop him to ask him a favor. Thomas look at him and wonder why but of course he was a super fan of his book series and ask him to sign one of his books. I laugh a little seeing the situation after all the craziness I just glade this case was closed. I do have to admit I was really hoping to see a ghost but Thomas did once say that strange things always happens it just knowing how to catch it the right time. and I closed my book I did see a ghost and it was the owner of the place. He bow his head for us and vanish and close the door. I was gonna say something but as for now I will say working with Thomas gonna be interesting indeed.

Case end till next time
