The landsknechts were German mercenaries during the renaissance. While they largely operated in pike blocks, they made use of greatsword (Shlachtschwert) weilding troops to break hostile blocks. These soldiers were paid double (and thus called doppelsoldners) because of their skill and the risks they book. They also tended to dress extremely flamboyantly and expensively to show off their skill and their income.

Ziggy also agreed to put on pants for this one. The full text behind him is:

Our master who art in combat
Hallowed be thy name
Thine treatise read
Thine action done
In practice as it is in theory
Let us this day seize the vor
And forgive us our actions in nach
And let us parry those made against us
Lead us not into patterns
And deliver us from repetition
For thine is thy blade, thy skill and thy art
For ever and ever

Hi Ziggy! What sword manufacturers could you recommend? I'm asking, because I want to give my cousin a sword as a present and I have heard really negative things about manufacturers such as "Darksword Armory" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xV5pUri0dHw). I've heard good things about "Albion" swords and "Pavel Moc", but are they really as good as many claim?

One of my ancestors was apparently a Reisläufer, which is fascinating!
