I love Scraggy. He's a super cute pokemon and I loved him the second his sprite was released. You guys know how I get peeved with incorrect reptile anatomy in designs. Because I love Scraggy, I can't really bitch about how anatomically incorrect he is as a supposed reptile. Not because I'm biased.
Because anatomically correct Scraggy is nightmare fuel.
Shed skin is moist at first, and quickly dries. It wouldn't be possible for it to be rubbery in any way- that's like expecting beef jerky to be juicy and tender. Shed skin can be pretty tough, though, especially in species with raised scales. Scraggy is a desert dweller, and likely tough skinned with well-fit scales to prevent water loss. Low humidity can cause shedding problems, which might explain why it appears to "wear" skin, though I drew him with the feet through the arms. Complete pieces of lizard shed are almost ghost like- you can see all the details and how every scale fits together in the sheet.
It also has massive, forward facing eyes, with very high nostrils and a strangely placed mouth. On top of that, the head is spherical, something unheard of in lizards.
Take all of that and try to modify it in to plausible lizard parts and you get this monstrosity. I already have some ideas for other tries at this, it was good fun, but I don't know if that's because its really fun or just because I am so tired I can barely see straight. ANWAY.
Here, have some sleepless nights.
