This is an extreme perspective like picture of D. Dan's grandfather in the process of a powerful strike. He is not striking the one looking at the picture but rather an opponent who is attempting to break into one of the buildings in the dojo via the floor.
D. Dan's grandfather, the former head of the noble house of Dan, is a true master swordsman. He is a resident of Adleria and lives with other great masters in a massive dojo complex in a mountainous area north of the capital. The dojo complex is one of 4 great mega dojos in the kingdom of Adleria. The other three lie on the east, west and south. Their purpose is to house the aging knights, warriors and other great fighters whose ancestry originates from Adleria.
The aging warriors serve their remaining years as advanced fighters, warding off any evil from beyond the kingdom's borders that threaten the interior. They also serve as advanced trainers for young warriors.
When an avianmen, no matter where they live, becomes of a certain age, they will make the journey back to their ancestral homeland of Adleria to live out their days in the council of elders. The council of elders is more or less the name given to the group of avianmen of an advanced age and, by whom, has made it back to their ancestral homeland than an actual council.
While many countries and kingdoms are generally peaceful, several are still plagued by the occasional monster and demon raids, wild monsters and similar. Adleria is one of the few. Despite being near some of the most active monster and demon hotspots and spawn points, Adleria has remained exceeding peaceful due to the aging masters that keep at bay the evil upon all 4 borders of mighty Adleria.
The dojos, like much of the other architecture and culture of Adleria, is a mix of Celtic, Chinese, Japanese, Egyptian and Greek cultures. The buildings are made of wood and brick in the Chinese style, similar to that of the Forbidden city and the Temple of Heaven. The roofs are mainly wood and tile in the Japanese style, as are the walls to the complex. In addition, the platform the dojo is built on, the ramp and bridge to the main gates and the walls surrounding the massive complex is much like the great castles and fortresses of Medieval feudal Japan.
The dragon and phoenix ornaments on top of the roof are laid out in an Asian style, but with an art similar to that of Celtic art. Other design elements, such as painted and mosaic images, designs in the brickwork of the floors, terraces and courts, are in the Celtic styles, mostly utilizing Celtic knots. The columns on a few of the buildings, and the general layout of the dojo complex is in the style of Greek architecture in that the buildings, columns, steps and much of everything else is slightly rounded and curved to be aesthetically pleasing and to make the visual illusion of perfection. Lastly, the gates to the dojo, as well as the central temple to the 12 Divine Winds (the official religion of the kingdom of Adleria) is in the style of Egyptian epic architecture with the gate having 4 obelisks on either side and silk banners over the top of the gates. The obelisks, like much of everything else in and around the dojo, is decorated with intricate Celtic knot artwork with images of dragons and phoenixes in the Celtic style.
