this is a picture of Emperor Nicholas Adleria, the 273rd ruler of the Kingdom of Adleria. ^\/^.
He is from a line of avianmen that stretches all the way back to the epic and legendary founder of the powerful royal dynasty, Ugthar Adleria. The royal line differs from most avianmen in that their average height and build is larger. In addition, some members of the royal family even have a pair of wings and / or tail feathers. ^\/^.
The emperor's clothing is mostly a suit of armor decorated heavily with flawless diamonds, sapphires and other precious stones ranging in sizes from 2 carats to the size of a fist. They are arranges in such a fashion to look like the stars in the sky. This is due in part of the belief that his majesty is of such divine and powerful nature that he is clothed in the very celestial heavens above. A kingdom as far north as Adleria has, even in modern times, an excellent view of the night sky. ^\/^.
To further show the emperor's importance and the concept of the emperor being the living embodiment of the heavens, his armored boots sport a stylistic representation of the sun and moon indicating that the emperor is even far above them and is only a part of him. ^\/^.
The imperial armor is not used in battle but rather for daily use. It is made of solid platinum and, where the strips are, enameled and / or engraved with a thick layer of gold. The gloves, belt and much of the armored boots are covered with gold. The armored knee pads on the boots are vice versa in covering. Basically, the one symbolizing the sun has the design engraved with precious amber in a field of iridescent blue and white moonstone wheres the other one for the moon has much of the field covered in amber while the design is set with iridescent blue and white moonstone.
The armored shoulder pads with stylized eagle heads are done in the same fashion to even out the look and to represent the dawn and dusk with straps of cloth and fur upon each that are colored in the same iridescent fashion of the cape with matching iridescent colors to further emphasize dawn and dusk. Dawn with straps of cloth with iridescent colors of orange to pink and fur with iridescent colors from blue to purple. The dusk having a strap of iridescent colors from orange to white and fur with iridescent colors from pink to deep blue. The fields around the eyes on the armored shoulder pads and the area on top are similarly colored with a field of flawless blue and white diamonds, flawless emeralds and sapphires, amber and moonstones of blue and white. ^\/^.
The emperor's voluminous and heavily intricate cape is made of two capes interweaving in and out of each other like a Celtic band. One is connected to his armored gloves and the other to his armored shoulder pads in the form of eagle heads. The cloth is thick, yet flows as though they are made of light silk. A cloth of such tight weaving and smooth delicateness that was woven by a group made up of monks to high priests from the ancient wind temples of the 12 divine winds. (The 12 divine winds is part of a religion still dominant in the country and part of the old culture of the empire dating before its creation) ^\/^.
The cape is colored with iridescent colors. The major part of the cape (the one from the armored shoulder pads) is colored with iridescent colors from green to red. The minor part of the cape (the one attached to the armored gloves) is colored with iridescent colors of yellow to a bluish royal purple. The inside of the major cape is colored with iridescent colors ranging from royal blue to royal purple. ^\/^.
The cape is stylized in such a manner to further emphasized the emperor as the living embodiment of the sky. The reasoning is that the cape represents the aurora borealis that is commonplace all year round in the kingdom of Adleria. Adleria is one of several kingdoms situated in the mythic land of Hyperboria and the aurora borealis is of such brightness and intensity that, in even the modern times, street lights and other outdoor lighting for night is uncommon. Though bright as the aurora borealis is in the kingdom, it is still not too bright as to not blot out the stars in the sky. The cape on the emperor is meant to represent the aurora borealis. The emperor thus wears the heavens and is draped with the northern lights. ^\/^.
The fur on top of the cape, besides for a bit of warmth, is meant to represent the tail of a comet with the emperor's head as the head of the comet. Essentially, it is meant to show that if one crosses the emperor, it spells doom for them. If one is good in the emperor's eyes, then they receive good fortune. The fur on on top of the cape acts in representation sort of like the Uraeus found on many Egyptian crowns that protected the pharaoh. It is mainly white fur with tips on the end colored in royal blue and emerald green. ^\/^.
Around the emperor's eyes small diamonds ranging from 2 or less carats that further emphasize the aspect of the emperor's head being the head of a comet. ^\/^.
The belt of the emperor's armor is a stylized representation of the milky way galaxy. The large stone in the middle is the second largest stone on the imperial armor (the largest on the chest) and, like the one on the chest, it is a flawless blue diamond. It represents the center of the galaxy and it is about where the naval is on the emperor's body. The feathers on either side (4 on each) represent the other 8 planets in the solar system. The hip cape attached to the belt, like the cape, represent the aurora borealis as well as colored in the same fashion with the same cloth. ^\/^.
The sword that the emperor holds with both hands, and is currently sheathed, is the very sword that once belonged to Ugthar Adleria. It is no longer used for battle but rather as a piece of the royal garb to be used and held while the emperor sits on his throne or stands while his majesty holds court. It is also used in various special imperial holidays and events. It is rarely unsheathed and the old hilt no longer survives having been replaced with one made of solid platinum and gold while heavily encrusted with flawless precious stones on the area that is not grasped. The simple crossguard of the sword still exists, but has been covered with gold and heavily enameled and encrusted with even more precious stones. The scabbard the sword rests in is covered with the same material as the emperor's cape and similarly colored like the the major cape.
The crown upon the emperor's head is a stylized form of the Hyperborean phoenix. The Hyperborean phoenix is a rare species of the mythical phoenix bird. It can utilize the elements of fire like most phoenix birds, lightning like thunderbirds. The Hyperborean phoenix also can die and resurrect like all other phoenix species, however, combined with an instant regeneration ability, the Hyperborean phoenix has a life cycle that is far longer than any species of the phoenix bird. The life cycle is equal to the Mayan's Kalabtun long count, or 102,520 years. ^\/^.
Besides being a powerful and rare species of a phoenix, and a beautiful and regal one at that, the reasoning for using the Hyperborean phoenix as the basis for the crown as well as the imperial symbol of power and rule is is based upon the legendary founder Ugthar Adleria and his rise to power. In the legends, a Hyperborean phoenix announced a challenge that any who is strong enough to hold the him up without fail for 3 days, while the phoenix perches on top of the head of the challenger, the winner will be blessed with a kingdom. Many around the world took up the challenge of strength and balance given by the Hyperborean phoenix. Some could not last a minute, even rarer few could last half a day. Ugthar Adleria took the challenge and passed. The Hyperborean phoenix then blessed Ugthar Adleria with a kingdom of his own that would last more than 10,000 of his life cycles. ^\/^.
To represent this, all rulers of Adleria since Ugthar Adleria have worn a crown that symbolized the origin of their long dynasty that, according to the legend, is still very young. ^\/^.
The three feathers sticking out the crown's neck is in representing of the three major powers of the Hyperborean phoenix's power of fire, lightning and healing. The back of the crown is a representation of the Hyperborean phoenix's 3 pair of wings (yes it has 3 pairs of wings, woot). The decorated straps on either side of the head represents the legs and feet of the Hyperborean phoenix. The crown is approximately the same size of the very phoenix that issued the legendary challenge (though small and party ethereal from their elemental nature of fire and lightning, a Hyperborean phoenix has an immense weight due to the incredulously dense mass of their body). ^\/^.
The crown, like the imperial emperor's armor, is made of solid platinum with inlays and decorations of gold with flawless and precious stones representing the celestial heavens. Also like the rest of the armor, the flawless diamonds are blue diamonds and are nearly as deep blue as the sapphires. Flawless emeralds and deep green jade add a touch of green and moonstones of iridescent deep blue and white add to the celestial look. ^\/^.
