Well, a little bit of an unusual break from my usual military commissions (don't worry there's a whole lot of those coming!) . I took most of my inspiration for this piece from the movie "I am legend" with Will Smith. Specifically that depressing scene where he strangles Sam. In this case, thankfully, our heroine has managed to calm and reassure the small feral before anything bad happened.
This was supposed to be a 3-day piece but it ended up taking 5... The reason was that it ended up being extremely experimental. Firstly I started with the background and then took most of my colors for the character from it. Then I finally got the hang of the mixer brush! And lastly I tried many different color combinations before arriving at this one. In retrospect, it's still a little too dark. Also one neat little thing you might notice is that the whole piece follows a big "S" curve which I think came out pretty well!
