right then, so rather than working on things that are required to call this an actual game. I've instead been messing about with things that are necessary, but could have been put off for later.

Lighting - particularly important, since most stages are at night, ignore the attempt at a firefly, that needs work.
Dialog bubbles - useful for dialog and such, now if only I was far enough along to need it >_>
Sound - found a couple programs for making 8 bit sounds/chiptunes, added a jump/attack sound. found out that composing is hard, and I know nothing about it.

redoing attacking - currently the way you chain attacks is by pressing the attack button on the last frame of a 2 frame animation. which means you kinda need to mash the button for it to work, but the attack sound plays every time you push the button weather the chain happens or not... which can get quite noisy/annoying... should probably also get around to making it so they can do damage while I'm at it.
