Carried Me Along - Commission
Unfortunately this song did not make it onto the EP - when I first started working towards the EP I had just watched La La Land and I was obssessed (still am!) and I really wanted this song on my CD. However due to a combination of Copyright issues and Bandcamp's hatred of covers, and the fact I don't really think it fits with the rest of the CD, it got the chop. That doesn't mean I don't want to release it though, as it's gorgeous!!

''City of Stars'' was written by Justin Hurwitz with lyrics by Benj Pasek. Thank you both for the beautiful song!

Lovely.

If you don't mind I'll put my (minor) criticisms first...

The vocal mix. Lilyness has a beautiful voice and I would TOTALLY have put her in the front of the mix too, but in the sections where you are singing the harmonies you kinda vanish. I think she was pulled too far forward and you faded too far back. You can BOTH sing, for Gods sake, let's hear the interaction between your voices better.

The only other thing I can point to is the piano track and I think it wasn't Cosmik's fault but more a matter of production - its like it's a fraction of a beat out of sync in places, like Cosmik was playing it and feeling it too, and playing accordingly, but the production tried to tie that track to a metronome and it didn't quite work right.

Ok, no more criticisms. Forget I said any of that, because even with those minor production notes it sounded great. I could listen to it over again and grin. If I turn off my "nitpicky sound guy" circuits and just listen that was performed beautifully.
