Hmm.

I suddenly felt like trying to draw something Pokémon themed... After that bit in my journal yesterday about ideas for a Pokémon game... and this is all I got.

Turns out whenever I think about designing a game, my first thought is always towards character customisation...

And I'm a little annoyed that there is something... Very... western?... About my style or technique... something about how I draw... That prevents me from drawing something that has a very specific anime style to it. =/

Also what the hell is with eyes. Why do I always get so stuck on them. I mean. If they're wrong it just will not work. Blech.

There's something I need to work on with my drawing, but the problem is I can't quite put my finger on it.

Any tips or suggestions? =/

Glad I could help in some way. ^_^

I always seem to have trouble getting the eyes to look right, even if I use one of my own previous pictures as a reference. They are always a strange thing, and tend to draw the focus for a lot of pictures.

I was actually thinking, while drawing the arms and legs on the right picture, that it was almost like calligraphy or something, and as far as anime... well, Japan has a whole cultural thing around that. Which made me start to wonder about language and the shape of words and letters in different languages; they range from sharp and angular to smooth and rounded and everything in between. My handwriting is pretty messy, like my sketches, especially when I use running writing, which is almost a default go to. I can only wonder at how it might relate to drawing techniques and the like, but it's an interesting thought. =3
