Another thing you need to understand when drawing your character, is the anatomy. If it's a bear, then learn how to draw bears. If it's a tiger, study tigers. The more you do this, the more your drawings will look more accurate.

The trick is that cartoon's are "exaggerations" of real creatures/animals/people. So, Amber may be a cartoon character, she is still a golden retriever. Therefore, learning how to draw real goldens, from their bodys, all the way to their faces, will make your drawings look not only realistic, but also much more accurate.

Of course, here, she looks somewhat similar to the picture on the left, (just a sketch to give you the basic idea). So, try to do this with any character you draw! ^^

Next will be on how to create your own style for this kind of character.

Oh wow, that is an amazing realistic style~
When I tried realistic, I studied with skeletal structures.. but man it was no walk in the park. Aye it would be nice to know a variety of styles though, so it is something to try to get down whenever possible. Nicely done, my friend. ^^

meh I'd say it looks ok, it's not perfect, but the point is is to just find what the actual animal looks like, and try to incorporate it into your drawings.

A good example of this is Yaroul's drawing of Amber that I commissioned. You can tell he used the same realistic style, just in his own style, and make her look almost similar to the reference photos i gave him.

Ah yes. I see what you mean now. Also similar how you used a realistic photo of a Retriever to draw Amber lying down in your 3rd tutorial. Definitely something for me to keep in mind in the future.

"The more you do this, the more your drawings will look more accurate." --That´s how they do it at Disney Studios, i.e. I remember that one backstage-report where they were in a zoo, petting lion cubs to get an idea how to draw Simba, Nala & Co. for "The Lion King".
