#5: Mr. Bumpy: Bump in the Night

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmq00Roz8Eo

Yeah... wasn't very creative on the title this time. Sue me, I gotta come up with creative or sarcastic title for 31 pictures a year. They can't all be winners. Or much more fitting, they can all be losers, but I digress

I actually have a bit of a confession to make. I'm literally adding in this character to make amends for fucking up in a previous Halloween Countdown. Some of you may remember (for the select two people out there that follow me religiously) that back in 2014 the theme for that year's Halloween Countdown was good guys from dark material, or benevolent monsters... and despite adding in characters like Ickis, Krumm and Oblina I did NOT add in Mr. Bumpy! How-fucking-dare I! Especially given the fact that Bump in the Night was one of my favorite shows growing up and it was entirely based around benevolent monsters. I am a disgrace...

Well I got that out of the way! So yeah, Mr. Bumpy was a shoe-in for that theme and when I realized that I forgot all about him I slapped myself and quickly rectified it by adding him in asap. If you don't know who he is, I'm not surprised. Bump in the Night was an absurd, little known stop-motion series from the mid-90's and along with AAHHH!!! Real Monsters was easily what got me into making things like High School Death Party. It was weird, eccentric brand of cartoon that only the 90's could produce and I just loved it. It's sort of hard to even put into words, it's really just something you should look up for yourself, I'm not sure if it's really aged well or not but I sure was in love with this thing as a kid, but unlike most of this generation, I'm not obsessed and blinded with nostalgia so I didn't give him a stupidly high ranking. So he got in at no. 5... yup. Seeya tomorrow, creeps!

Will we see Squishington?

It pleases me that you ask this, though sadly Squishy will not be present in this countdown. I debated added him into the same picture with Bumpy, but after awhile I opted not to as I planned to do my sidekick countdown for Thanksgiving and he fits pretty well into that role, but due to lack of time I dropped the November countdown to only 10 so Squishy got cut out entirely. But who knows, he may have a chance next year!

And now, we cut to a scene of Squishy crying to the bathroom, and going down the toilet to drown his sorrows away back at his house as he waits another year to be recognized.  Hehe, but wasnt expecting to see mr bumpy and thats a fun surprise

As Squishy would do, honestly, so at least it's fitting

I own it on DVD too, I kind of doubled back and had to look at it for several minutes when I first saw it because I never expected it to exist and in Walmart of all places

What's your favorite episode?

That's a pretty hard question to answer, though I did always enjoy the one with the stinkbug, Odiferous J. Stench, mainly because he was voiced by Gilbert Godfried.

That was a pretty funny one. My personal favorite was the baby sitting episode.
