One sunny day on Slowpoke Isle, two male hedgehogs both look over to each other and sigh boredly. The eldest male, named Sonic, was laying in his hammock and looking down at the younger male, who was sat on the ground doing some colouring.
He soon smiles and stands up before walking over to the younger male. He holds out his hand and points outside his hut.
"Wanna go for a walk, little buddy? We've been cooped up inside for quite a while..."
Samuel, a 4 year old hedgehoglet, smiles and takes Sonic's hand before standing up and jumping up and down, excitedly.
"Sure thing, daddy! It's sunny outside too..."
Sonic chuckles at Samuel's excitement and soon walks beside him, helping him to jump down from the steps outside of his beach hut. Samuel giggles happily as he looks up at his father.
"You're quite excited, aren't ya, little buddy?"
Samuel blushes a little as he looks down at his feet.
"Sorry daddy, I love going for walks though."
Sonic chuckles and ruffles his head.
"It's ok, buddy. I like going for walks too... though I do prefer running, of course~"
Samuel soon smiles playfully as he looks up at Sonic.
"Wanna race, daddy~?"
Sonic smirks as he stops and looks down at Samuel. He crosses his arms.
"Are you challenging me, son~?"
"Maybe~"
Sonic chuckles and soon gets into position to start running. Samuel giggles and get into position beside him.
"Ready... set... go!"
Samuel watches in shock as Sonic dashes off after saying go. Samuel soon runs off after him and smiles as he catches up to his father. He squeals happily, enjoying the experience of running at almost Sonic speed. Sonic looks behind him and smiles as he notices Samuel getting close.
The two males look ahead at the finish line and gain more speed. As they approach the finish line, Sonic passes it slightly ahead of Samuel before coming to a halt.
Samuel stops and pants a little as he looks up at Sonic. The adult male ruffles Samuel's head.
"Good job, Sammy... that was a really close one!"
"Thanks daddy, I've been practicing~"
Sonic chuckles as he gives Samuel a noogie.
"That's my boy!"
Samuel giggles and wriggles around before Sonic stops the noogie. He soon holds his hand and starts to walk towards the village.
"You did really well, Sammy. Now, how about we go and meet some villagers?"
Samuel gulps a little.
"O-ok daddy..."
Sonic notices Samuel's nervous attitude and lowers his ears. He kneels down beside him.
"You alright, little buddy? You look nervous..."
Samuel looks down at his feet and lowers his ears, blushing a little.
"Y-yeah... it's just... I'm still... shy."
Sonic smiles a little.
"Aww, you really are just like your mother. Well... when she was your age anyway. But it's ok to be shy, Sammy... and don't worry, I'll be with you, ok?"
Samuel smiles a little and nods.
"Ok, daddy..."
"Atta boy."
Samuel looks around and Sonic soon walks through the village beside him, holding his hand. A young female mobian smiles as she looks down at Samuel.
"Aww, what a little angel!"
Samuel gulps again before holding onto Sonic's leg and hiding behind it. Sonic looks back and chuckles as he ruffles his hair. He then looks up at the female.
"Sorry, he's a little shy..."
The young mobian smiles and giggles a little as she notices Samuel peek out from behind Sonic's leg.
"I understand... he's such a cutie though! What's his name?"
Sonic looks down and smiles as Samuel slowly walks out from behind his leg. He puts his hands behind his back and looks down at his feet, shyly.
"M-my name... is S-Samuel..."
The young female smiles down at him.
"Aww... my name's Lucy, it's nice to meet you, Samuel."
"N-nice to meet you t-too..."
Lucy smiles and gently pets his head.
"He's so handsome, just like you, Sonic~"
Sonic blushes a little and puts a hand behind his head.
"Eheh... thanks. But yeah, he is a handsome boy..."
Samuel blushes a little from the compliment and rubs his nose with his finger. Sonic chuckles at his impression of him and ruffles his hair.
"It was nice to meet ya, Lucy, but I think we better get going now..."
"Of course. It was great meeting you both... see ya later!"
Sonic and Samuel both wave as Lucy walks in a different direction.
The young male smirks a bit as he looks down at Samuel, who was still blushing.
"Aww, has someone gone all blushy~?"
Samuel pouts and shakes his head, still blushing.
"Nuh uh!"
Sonic chuckles and gently pokes his nose.
"Yes you are... did Lucy's compliment make you blush~?"
"No!"
Sonic chuckles again.
"Alright, blushy... let's head off to the forest, shall we~?"
Samuel nods as he tries to hide his blushing muzzle. Sonic smiles at his son's adorableness and soon picks him up, giving him a kiss. Samuel smiles a little from the kiss and wags his tail, nuzzling into Sonic's scarf.
"Love you, daddy."
"Love you too, Sammy."
As time went on, Sonic and Samuel eventually made it to the forest. Sonic places Samuel down and watches as he runs over to a nearby flower patch. He kneels down beside them and sniffs one of the flowers. He soon feels a twitch in his nose and sneezes.
Sonic chuckles from the sneeze and kneels down beside him.
"Bless you, Sammy..."
Samuel giggles as Sonic gets out a tissue and cleans up his nose with it.
"Thanks, daddy!"
Sonic smiles and sighs happily as he and his son are both sat on the ground, admiring the flowers. Like his father, Samuel loves nature and loves to be outside, sniffing and collecting flowers.
Sonic soon picks up a little purple flower and sniffs it before putting it back down.
"It's such a nice day, isn't it, Sammy?"
Samuel smiles and nods as he picks up some flowers and puts them into his backpack.
"It is, daddy... I love these flowers too, they're so pretty!"
"Indeed."
A few minutes later, Sonic feels his ears twitch. He stands up and looks around before getting into a defensive position. Samuel feels his ears twitch too and lowers them as they both hear a thumping sound, getting louder as it gets closer to them.
Samuel stands up and soon hides behind Sonic's leg, gently grabbing onto it. He whispers, nervously.
"D-daddy, what's g-going on?"
Sonic looks back and whispers as he continues to look around.
"I think it's Eggman, little buddy... stay behind me, ok?"
Samuel gulps and nods before gasping as he notices Eggman flying towards their position in his hovercraft. He starts whimpering and watches as Sonic stands in front of him.
"Hahaha! Well, if it isn't Sonic the blue rodent!"
"What do you want, Egghead?"
Eggman smirks as he turns to his side.
"Oh nothing... just wanted to show off my latest creation... FlameBot!"
Sonic and Samuel both look up as the robot jumps down to the ground with a loud thudding sound. The blue blur gives an unimpressed look and crosses his arms.
"Seriously, Egghead? You've made this robot before... and I beat it."
"Heheh, but this one is diff--"
Eggman and Samuel both watch as Sonic uses a Home Attack and destroys it in one hit. He walks back to Samuel, casually.
"Yeah, it's the same as before, Egghead..."
Samuel giggles a little from Sonic's snarky comment but soon gasps as Eggman hovers down to his level and smiles evilly.
"Well well, who is this?"
Samuel lowers his ears and watches as Sonic stands in front of him and gives an angry look towards Eggman.
"None of your business, Egghead."
Eggman chuckles as he looks down at Samuel, who was now hiding behind Sonic's leg, holding onto it.
"Now now, Sonic... it is quite obvious that this is your son. Why haven't you introduced me to him?"
Sonic looks back at Samuel and watches as Sammy suddenly lets go of his leg and walks beside him, clenching his fists and making a defensive stance.
"I'm not afraid of you!"
The blue blur looks down in shock as his notices his son acting bravely. He stands beside Samuel and smiles down at him.
Eggman chuckles as he hovers in front of Samuel.
"Oh really? Then I'm sure that you won't mind if I send you a message, little blue rodent!"
Sonic and Samuel watch as Eggman produces a Krabmeat and throws it to the ground. Samuel gulps as he notices the robot pinch it's claws and runs towards him. Samuel soon runs off into the opposite direction but is soon stopped by a tree. He looks up to see that the Krabmeat is running towards him. He closes his eyes and lowers his ears, trying not to be scared.
But before Krabmeat could attack Samuel, Sonic jumps in and grabs Samuel before placing him down in a safe place. He then turns back and uses a Spindash in order to destroy the robot. He notices Samuel on the ground, shaking all over and whimpering. He runs over and helps him back onto his feet before running a hand across his muzzle.
"Sammy, are you ok?"
Samuel shudders and looks up at Sonic with fearful eyes. He continues to whimper as he shakes his head. Sonic lowers his ears and turns to Eggman before growling up at him.
"How dare you scare my boy like that!!"
Eggman laughs evilly.
"So he WAS afraid? Excellent!"
Sonic growls again but soon looks back at Samuel. He notices his legs shaking and soon gasps as yellow liquid starts to come out of Samuel's lower area before dribbling down onto his shoes.
"Sammy?"
Samuel simply stands there and looks down at himself. He lowers his ears and blushes as both Sonic and Eggman witness the event. His urine continues to dribble down his legs and he whimpers helplessly. A few minutes later, Samuel finishes and puts his hands between his legs before kneeling down to the ground and sobbing loudly.
Eggman chuckles as he twiddles his moustache.
"So, THIS is the child that's destined to beat me in the future? What a joke!"
Sonic growls in frustration and soon produces a powerful Home Attack which sends Eggman flying off into the air. Eggman looks back in anger but soon makes a somewhat cowardly expression as he watches Sonic pin his ears back and bare his teeth. He hisses loudly as a natural instinct, warning Eggman to keep away from Samuel.
Eggman gasps at the anger of Sonic and soon flies away in a cowardly fashion before shouting back.
"I'll be back, Sonic! Just you wait!"
Once Eggman had disappeared, Sonic changes his expression to a sympathetic one as he turns to Samuel and walks over to him. The young hedgehoglet continues to sob as Sonic kneels down in front of him and uses his hand in order to lift his chin.
Samuel looks away in embarrassment and Sonic attempts to turn his head around.
"Sammy... please, look at me."
"N-no!"
"But Sammy--"
Samuel soon bursts out as he continues to look away. He throws Sonic's hands off him in frustration.
"I SAID NO!!"
Sonic watches in horror, not believing what his son just did. He had never seen Samuel so angry before...
"But... why?"
Samuel continues to look away before looking down at his feet.
"Because I'm ashamed of what I did... and..."
"And...?"
"I don't deserve to be your son!"
Sonic opens his eyes widely as he watches Samuel get up and run towards another tree. He reaches his hand out and sighs sadly as he sees Samuel continue to sob as he sits under a tree.
The blue blur walks over to Samuel and kneels down in front of him, gently placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Sammy, don't say that. You're the best son a hedgehog could ever ask for..."
Samuel sniffs as he looks up at Sonic. He then stands up and pulls down his wet shorts and underwear before laying them on the ground. Sonic lowers his ears as he takes off his backpack. He takes out a blanket and uses it in order to clean Samuel up.
Sammy blushes a little but continues to sob in embarrassment. Sonic puts the blanket down and gently pulls him into a hug. Samuel hugs back and rests his head on Sonic's shoulder.
"I'm s-sorry daddy... I tried to be brave."
Sonic smiles a bit and gently rubs Sammy's back.
"I thought you were pretty brave, son. Especially when you stood up to Eggman!"
"R-really?"
"Yeah and besides... bravery is something that takes time. You seemed to have learned from quite an early age though. I remember the first time you fell over when you were learning how to walk, you didn't even cry! And your first day of school, of course..."
Samuel smiles a bit and rubs his eyes with his fingers as Sonic puts Samuel's clothes into his backpack.
"Thanks daddy... I still wish that I was like you though."
"You are like me, buddy. You're kind, smart... and handsome, of course."
Samuel blushes a little and giggles.
"Daddy..."
Sonic chuckles and ruffles Samuel's hair.
"And even if you don't end up being EXACTLY like me, you're still a really intelligent boy, why you may end up like your Uncle Tails, which would be equally as awesome! You'd get to invent things!"
Samuel wags his tail a bit.
"Weally?!"
Sonic chuckles as he puts Samuel's wet clothes into a bag.
"Of course. You can be whatever you want when you grow up..."
Samuel stands up from the ground and hugs Sonic's leg as he stands up also. Sonic smiles down at him and picks him up, kissing his muzzle.
"You're gonna make a great freedom fighter someday, Sammy..."
"Thanks daddy."
