mytigertail‘s Feels like (http://mytigertail.deviantart.com/art/Feels-like-61856...) helped inspire this. That goofy-innocent dung-pile of his got me thinking of that guiltless Slime enemy you encounter as the standard enemy in most Dragon Quest games (formerly Dragon Warrior in North America).

It’s been a very long time since I’ve drawn and I'm trying to experiment with pixel-art to go with the enthusiasm I have for old games and their dated-interesting technology that a lot of us grew up with. The original 1989 Game Boy was the first console I ever owned, let alone played, at age 6. Its games ran at a resolution of 160x144 pixels and had a whopping 4 shades of 2-bit gray color palette, which came across as olive-greenish in the system’s original incarnation. A 1996 revision, the Game Boy Pocket, had a true black&white screen, which is what I’ve tried emulating with this pic.

I’ve also tried replicating the font found in earlier Game Boy games. The site I’ve used as a reference for that is http://www.dafont.com/early-gameboy.font. My other source is mytigertail’s draw – I tried manually converting his happy little doo-doo for the Game Boy screen.

Thanks goes out to my friend Lushain for help inspiring me with her own pixel-artwork and her streams! Special thanks to my friends AngelicSerenity and Uluri for letting me multi-stream with them on picarto. And extra thanks to my friend Gabe (mytigertail) for giving me his blessing on this pic and encouraging me to post it!
