In the spirit of Mr. Peabody devoting himself to the pursuit of knowledge and culture, later devoting himself to helping mankind by solving geopolitical problems around the world, I thought he'd make the perfect subject for this idea.

The practice of infant male circumcision is so common in the United States that it's passed off as cultural, but it is one of biggest violations of human rights, yet it's being completely ignored.

Circumcision is unnecessary. No medical organization in the United States or anywhere else in the world recommends routine circumcision. European doctors condemn circumcision because it violates the rights of the child. One of the rules of pediatricians is "First, do no harm." And they find circumcision to be harmful since it removes a natural, healthy, functional body part from an infant that can't even consent. The majority of the world's men are intact, healthy and happy. Circumcision does not improve penile health.

The foreskin serves as a protective organ that enhances sexual experience by protecting the glans, limiting contact with foreign objects, keeping it sensitive, clean, healthy and moist. Not to mention the gliding motion it provides and the thousands of nerve endings it has. Evolution put it there for a reason.

I would actually say that foreskin is underrated, especially when you consider all the adaptation it had to go through with millions of years of evolution. In male human anatomy, the foreskin is a double-layered fold of smooth muscle tissue, blood vessels, neurons, skin, and mucous membrane that covers and protects the glans penis and the urinary meatus when the penis is not erect. Some of the things to admire about it are the mechanical contribution to lubrication, the immunological properties of the foreskin, the unique, sensory abilities of the foreskin, the protection of the urinary meatus, the protection of the glans, the estrogen receptors found in the foreskin. Not to mention the thousands of nerve endings it has and the gliding motion it provides. (No other body part is like that. It's freaking awesome!)

There are no benefits to circumcision. Any so-called "benefits" can be achieved without resorting to genital cutting. Condoms prevent STDs/HIV/STIs. NOT circumcision.

The removal of the foreskin removes the thousands of nerve endings in the foreskin, and without the protection of the foreskin, the glans is left exposed, causing it to dry, and become keratinized and desensitized by rubbing up against underwear.

Circumcision complications can and do occur in even the best clinical settings. Risks include infection, hemorrhage, scarring, difficulty urinating, loss of part or all of the penis, and even death. 100 babies in the United States alone die every year because of this unnecessary procedure.

There are a lot of people out there that wish they'd had a chance to keep their foreskin, including celebrities like Christopher Hitchens and Howard Stern. (Check out facebook pages "I AM NOT THANKFUL", "Celebrities Against Circumcision" and "Bloodstained Men & Their Friends")

Circumcision is medically unnecessary, so performing it on a minor or anyone without their consent is a violation of their right to bodily integrity and their freedom of making an informed decision for themselves. Circumcision should be a voluntary decision by the patient when he has reached the age of consent. (18+) It has no place being systematically inflicted on innocent, non-consenting, healthy infants.

The best option is to give baby boys an open future by letting them keep their foreskin. Studies show that needing a circumcision later on is very rare. And even though adult circumcisions are a lot safer, people aren't lining up to get circumcised. http://imgur.com/a/7gAku

All mammals are born with a foreskin. Nature knows what it’s doing, and babies deserve to keep the bodies nature gives them! Circumcision is permanent, and your son might not appreciate it.

you seem just as passionate about stopping circumcision in the U.S. as i am. if you feel like it theres a company thats doing medical research to clone foreskins to give men back atleast most of their hoods.

http://www.foregen.org/

while certain parts like the frenulum delta are much to complex to clone, the outer and inner foreskin and elastic ridge band at the end as well as all its nerve endings can be gotten back. they use your actual skin cells to clone the foreskin so theres no chance your body will reject the dna. they recently started their first human trial.

thank you for listening if you do read this and it would mean a lot to men worldwide if foregen succeeds. and...thank you for trying to educate people about the damage circumcising does. :)

Curcomcise my child? Why not, it's common. Might as well get rid of that left nipple and his upper lip. Also, his right earlobe kind of bothers me. I don't like things being symmetric. Let's also cut that part of HIS body off because of MY preferences.

It's kinda sad that a lot of people are wearing cultural blindfolds when it pertains to boys. And yet, they will get mad when they hear the same thing is being done to girls. Female circumcision is common in some parts of the world, and it's done for may of the same nonsensical excuses people use for boys. Some women even defend the practice of female circumcision. Just like some men defend male circumcision.
