"I turn my gaze upon a trillion passing souls across the cosmos with every moment. So brief but so bright. And I wonder what they look like up close..."
Eris Discordia is the elder goddess of Chaos, a primordial that predates the cosmos yet had no identity until mortals were able to give it name and image. Eris first came to the attention of the ancients long ago and became a reflection of the discord that all life would plant in its wake. A creature of such scale would be utterly devastating if it attempted to manifest its true essence in any physical form. Instead it scatters shards across the cosmos, leaving tiny facets of its personality on worlds that hold life. They take forms of a more familiar nature to the local life forms and interact with them on a face to face basis, a task utterly impossible to the cosmos spanning perception of their parent deity. Though they are but a fraction of Eris' true power, they typically outclass the life forms they walk amongst and it is not uncommon for them to become known as gods in their own right. Some are fickle, some are benevolent and others seem only to desire their own amusement. Being primordial by nature, their morals are often questionable and they see things in a very different light to most mortals. They can be destroyed, but their deaths serve only to return their essence to the parent deity which usually triggers the cycle anew.
Dia is a shard of Eris manifested upon the world of Vertis. She travels through the variants of the world across numerous timelines and others besides in her pursuit of knowledge and entertainment. She takes the form of a fennec kitsune hybrid, bearing three tails and a power level on par with most lesser primordials and spirits. Her skin and fur contain high amounts of metal, an unusual physiology which also renders her blood and most of her internal flesh blue. Though her shape is feminine, her actual gender seems inconsequential as she is more interested in amusing and feeding herself than more carnal and erotic pleasures. She is capable of eating regular food as other vulpines, but also occasionally feeds on souls and, depending on the world, even hearts.
